Purpose of the Job
As Senior Signalling Engineer you will have (and mature) a broad knowledge of the physics surrounding the railways transportation, particularly signalling. You will have advanced capabilities to translate real systems into mathematical models that you can easily manipulate. You will be required to technically lead complex problems and confidently drive them to resolution. In the first year, you will be paired with an industry legend, where you will have the opportunity to learn “modus operandi” and resolution methods; this will allow you to become the main technical reference for the team. The environment requires you to be a flexible and self-driven individual, as the challenges will always be different. 

 

Key responsibilities:
•    Provide technical expertise (technical reviews, problem solving, design revisions, best practices, computer modelling) within the Track Circuit train detection function.
•    Support regional projects and bids with expert knowledge of application of the product to ensure best practices.
•    Support technical leadership with guidance to the product owner and customers.
•    Support product compliance during verification and validation.
•    Develop decisions to allow delivery on time to required quality.
•    Accuracy of assumptions made from input data and quality of output design.
•    Willing to travel (nationally and internationally).

 

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
•    Proven experience and ability to translate a physical problem into a mathematical model (e.g. loss analysis in railways by means of a transmission line model).
•    Experience in simulation modelling of passive circuits by means of specialized software and lab equipment: analysis of the existing circuits, adaptation of the existing solutions to new requirements. Capability to develop new solutions.
•    Experience of characterisation measurements of passive circuit components and networks.
•    Ability to perform technical design activities under minimal supervision.
•    Advanced PC user with strong knowledge of software utilities: MS Office, analytical SW (e.g. MathCAD, MATLAB, etc), PSPICE, programming experience.
•    Desired knowledge and experience with:
o    Financial knowledge and cash awareness.
o    Experience of a safety related industry.
o    Experience of writing technical proposals for bids.
o    Knowledge of the following programming languages: Python, C, VBA.
