Your Future Role
As a Deputy Program Manager, you will take on a career-defining role based in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. In this position, you will provide operational support across multiple programs, focusing on quality, costs (both recurrent and non-recurrent), development lead times, and system/product performance, including safety demonstrations when necessary. You will administratively manage the resources allocated to the programs, providing leadership to ensure that program teams efficiently fulfill their duties, including technical support for projects.

 

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

  • Maintain the detailed implementation roadmap aligned with solution needs and requirements, coordinating with Program Managers as necessary to ensure safety, quality, customer orientation, competitiveness, and innovation.
  • Manage, control, and execute timely developments related to the program in collaboration with the Program Manager, ensuring compliance with established QCD commitments regarding performance, planning/delivery, costs, risks, and savings.
  • Prepare Delivery On-Time commitments (IOT/DOT - IOT-i/DOT-i) and maintain configuration control.
  • Coordinate program Work Packages, perform capacity/resource analysis, and develop risk mitigation plans according to the Program Development Organization (PDO).
  • Ensure the implementation of Gate/Design/Peer Review decisions.
  • Support bid activities by providing workload updates and a consolidated list of assumptions and risks.
  • Propose and drive improvement action plans for program efficiency and competitiveness, focusing on data collection and reporting enhancements.
  • Lead efforts in automating reports, deploying improvements, and simplifying/consolidating common activities between programs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Project Management.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in managing project/program baselines or in project management within the IT sector.
  • An engineering background with full lifecycle project deployment experience.
  • Proficiency in cost and planning control within engineering scopes.
  • Hands-on experience in customer relations concerning deliverables and scope management.
  • Knowledge of economic and financial aspects in an R&D environment (return on investment, decision-making, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills in technical environments.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and identify opportunities, with a talent for mobilizing teams to achieve objectives.
