Could you be the full-time Project Director - Rolling Stock (Rail)* in the USA we’re looking for?
*This is a hybrid role with and frequent travel to ALSTOM’s U.S. sites. Location is flexible, with preference for Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; or Hornell, NY.
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your extensive project management and engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and dynamic teammates.
You'll lead the Project Core Team to ensure the successful delivery of assigned tasks, meeting schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Relations), oversee project execution through effective governance and risk management, and ensure Alstom’s legal and contractual rights are protected, and much more.
We’ll look to you for:
- Managing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and creating a Detailed Project Schedule,
- Serving as the primary Customer Interface throughout the project lifecycle,
- Overseeing Project Risk, Opportunity, and Improvement Management,
- Leading Project Launch, Change Management, and Contractual Obligation Management,
- Allocating and monitoring project budgets to ensure financial performance,
- Preparing and delivering internal project reports, including status updates and financial performance insights,
- Reviewing project progress and providing strategic directions to Project Core Team members,
- Identifying and initiating actions to enhance team effectiveness, including applying team effectiveness tools,
- Delegating work packages and special tasks to optimize the overall project,
- Ensuring Alstom’s legal and contractual rights are protected while seeking and proposing additional opportunities to the Customer Director/Platform.

- Degree in engineering,
- Minimum 20 years of transportation-related experience,
- Strong preference for rail industry experience; rolling-stock experience highly desirable,
- Familiarity with U.S. transportation markets and customer expectations (U.S. rail market knowledge is preferred),
- Project management processes experience, including WBS, detailed project schedules, risk management, and change management,
- Must be available and willing to travel domestically for project/site/customer visits (USA),
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills,
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, complex environments,
- Leadership skills to guide and motivate diverse teams,
- Ability to identify and propose customer-centric opportunities,
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
