Job Title : Certification & Authorisation Manager

Purpose of the job:

  • Obtain and maintain vehicle(s) regulatory certifications and/or authorisations for operation
  • Support the Project Manager in grasping regulatory stakes


Main responsibilities:

  • You define the Certification & Authorisation strategy of the vehicle(s), including budget and planning (in consistency with the project planning) through the development of the Certification & Authorisation management plan during tender and project execution phase until the end of the warranty phase
  • You will lead the complete certification and authorization process up to receive a vehicle certification & authorization,
  • You obtain the necessary authorizations to run tests on commercial tracks and to operate the vehicle(s)
  • You manage tender/project regulations baseline and support the engineering team to make sure that the requirements are understood and consistent with contract,
  • You manage the modifications and the configuration of the certified/authorised vehicles with independent assessors and authorities until the end of warranty phase or according to contractual arrangements,
  • You manage Certification engineer(s) and subcontractor(s)
  • You conduct with all project members, especially the Train Performance Manager, the Train Validation Engineer as well as Subsystems managers, the proper identification, understanding and validation of regulatory requirements necessary to get regulatory certification(s) and/or authorisation(s)
  • You participate in the selection process of independent assessors (Notified body, Designated body, …)
  • You support and challenge the project members in the definition the conformity demonstration against technical regulations
  • You consolidate the evidence files to be submitted to independent assessors and relevant authorities
  • You make sure that all evidences are relevant before submission to the assessors
  • You develop mutual understanding with independent assessors you selected as well as with relevant authorities
  • You follow up the regulation and related standards changes and you communicate them
  • You develop Alstom leadership in Certification & Authorisation with other sites (Core Competence Network (CCN))


Main required competencies:

  • Masters Degree (Engineering, Physical Sciences, Law or others)
  • Experience in engineering projects
  • English language
  • Ability to foster communications between multiple stakeholders
  • Ability for getting into new topics, for analysis, synthesis and for problem-solving in technical environment
  • Rigorous
  • Solid decision making and critical thinking
  • Strong team player
