The Opportunity
As the Metronet Project in Bellevue continues to achieve key milestones including the first of 246 trains to take passengers, we have created an opportunity for a Tooling Engineer to join our team on a fixed term, 2 year basis.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the primary focus of this role is to understand and manage all tooling related matters and requirements in collaboration with any relevant suppliers and stakeholders. You will be recognised as the ‘go-to person’ for all things tooling at the Bellevue site. 


Key responsibilities; 

  • Define specific tools and tooling requirements, ensuring manufacturing and implementation suitability for operations and accordance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Identify tooling needs with industrialisation, production and planning teams and validate designs in conjunction with industrialisation, production and planning teams 
  • Coordinate the calibration process in collaboration with suppliers
  • Perform analysis on upfront and ongoings costs including overseeing the purchase request, RFQ and sourcing process
  • Perform operating procedures and provide training to manufacturing team where required 
  • Refer to Master list and forecasted plans to ensure upcoming business objectives will be supported appropriately 
  • Support continuous improvement of manufacturing lines and in the case of non-conformity or incident, investigate root causes, finds and implement corrective solutions
  • Manage overhead budget, CAPEX and investments related to new manufacturing equipment and ensure the maintenance, control and performance indicators of tools and equipment 

 

About you

  • Mechanical engineering background with tooling knowledge
  • Knowledge and operational experience in tool management preferably jigs, lifting slings or similar
  • Strong ability to forecast and plan
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external suppliers and teams
