Purpose of the Role:           

To be responsible for undertaking and leading site-based inspections and testing (Verification, Functional - Set to Work) and equipment and system commissioning within distributed conventional signalling equipment and systems and communications based centralized train control (CTC) systems including CBTC.  

 

This will be a FIFO role. The person will be working at Port Headland site.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

1. Leadership & Governance

  • Take direct responsibility for leading a test team performing site based signaling testing as directed by the Tester in Charge (TIC), supporting the development of test plans, cases, instructions and records and ensuring the team is fully ready, capable and competent to perform the testing and complete the works in accordance with all applicable and appropriate legislation, standards, procedures, specifications and assurance governance requirements.
  • Liaise and support the TIC in the investigation of faults and failures throughout the project lifecycle providing subject matter knowledge and expertise input where appropriate.

 

2. Preparation, Planning & Execution

  • Reporting to the TIC, supporting the planning development, execution and successful delivery of site testing activities, take direct responsibility for leading a test team performing site based signalling testing as directed by the Tester in Charge (TIC) ensuring that the team is fully prepared (equipment and logistics) and ready to complete the works in accordance with the approved schedule, within the budget and quality expectations and requirements.

 

3. Process

  • Liaising with the TIC, provide input into the development of testing procedures, processes and records and provide feedback on improvements where applicable. 
  • Reporting to the TIC, ensure that approved systems are followed and complied with and that defects are recorded and reported (Test Logs), Non-Conformances (NCR’) are raised and equipment is calibrated, serviceable and the correct equipment for the job.

 

4. Competency Framework & Authority to Work

  • Ensure that you and your test team maintain your competency validation and that you only work within the authority to work as defined by the company through the issue of appropriate Alstom statements of competency (SOC’s)

 

5. Safety

  • Ensure all works are performed complying at all times with health, safety and all relevant regulations and guidelines confirming that a safe system of work is in place and effective, that all interfaces between equipment under test and operational equipment have been clearly identified and that relevant controls are in place, robust and followed maintaining regular communication with key stakeholders.

 

Key Requirements:

  • 1.3.170 v7 - IRSE Signalling Functional Tester Licence or Equivalent Rail Train Operator (RTO) Certified Authority to work as “Functional Signalling Tester”
  • 5 Years as Signalling Functional Tester

 

Please note that due to current public health orders and contractual requirements with our customers, an inherent requirement of this role requires the successful applicant to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and to maintain their vaccination status in respect of COVID-19, in the event that further COVID-19 vaccinations are required. As part of the application process, the applicant must provide appropriate evidence of their vaccination status (eg. whether they have received both doses or have received one dose and are booked in to receive their second dose).
