Alstom is hiring a Part Number Codifier to support the modernization team.
Purpose of the Job
- The Part Number Codifier is responsible to manage part creation/modification requests during the whole life-cycle of the Project/Product.

- Adherence to defined central processes
Responsibilities
The Part Number Codifier is responsible to:
Follow and keep up with the creation and support of the DTR # creation for all Parts needs and external projects, this role will interact with engineering, supply chain, external projects and sourcing teams to keep up with the demand of DTR numbers to all internal customers. The creation of DTR numbers has a tracking process that need to be updated daily, to report the current status and to comply with document control requirements.
Main Resposibilities are as follows:
- This position will be part of Alstom's Services group and includes the creation of DTR part numbers as per Alstom's procedures by assigning the commodity codes and UNSPSC coding for all the new parts and updating of existing information.
- Basic mechanical and electrical technical concepts to identify parts required in the industry.
- Familiar with Excel, Word, and capable to learn other software application like CLAMP to create and update DTR numbers.
- Compile all the information needed to create the DTR and proactively look or request missing information to complete the DTR number creation.
- Work with engineers and the sourcing team to understand and look for information required such as drawings and/or datasheets to input information and upload to Orchestra.
- Compile all the information and call out for a meeting with the Configuration Management group to review for accuracy, make corrections, updates or to submit for approval.
- Work with engineering, materials planning, and configuration management group to complete process of creation to final release and distribution to requesting party.
- Ensure standard parts are codified correctly so they will appear in our DMA PDM system.
- Notify daily bases the progress and use the current procedure to track and comply the document control requirements.
Education
- Technical Experience on electromechanical systems.Technical Experience on electromechanical systems.
Knowledge & Experience
- Have a minimum of 3 years in the industrial area.
Location / Travel
This position is based in Toronto, ON (project office, maintenance depots where existing vehicles are accessible).
Occasional business travels within Canada / USA.
