We’re looking for a full-time Power Technician @ Ottawa site, could it be you?

 

Your future role

 

As a Power Technician, you will provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment to ensure the safety, availability and reliability of the Power Supply and Distribution (PS&D) System including the power substation equipment, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), cabling, OCS and Tunnel Lighting in line with specified Quality procedures.

 

The Power Technician supports a 7-day week rail operation, working rotating shifts, on a continuous seven-day cycle performing all technical work related to TPS maintenance.

 

While interacting daily with co-workers, external suppliers and management, all activities will be performed in accordance with strict Health & Safety procedures as prescribed by legislation and the ALSTOM Health & Safety policies.

 

The hourly rate starts at $ 34.48 and increases to $38.96 after completing the 9 month probation  period.

 

You’ll specifically be responsible for 

 

  • Complying with and enforcing EHSS policies and rules
  • Performing inspections, maintenance, and complex troubleshooting repairs on traction power voltage 1500V and above
  • Monitoring systems, circuit breakers, and other TPS component
  • Reporting all activities accurately and on time in the Maintenance Management database
  • Field Modifications implementation

  

We’ll look to you for

 

  • Recommending and implementing techniques and procedures that ensure maintenance to the PS&D System is conducted safely, reliably, efficiently
  • Supervising the power isolation processes for the rail system team and any designated third parties
  • Actively participating in safety meetings and Emergency Preparedness

  • Educational background/formal training as Electrician or in electrical engineering combined with relevant experience
  • Underground/OH High Voltage and/or Lineman experience preferred
  • EHS champion and field expert
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong computer skills
  • License G mandatory - Other license (truck / trailer etc.) desirable
