Your Future Role

As a Maintenance Vehicle Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the vehicle fleet. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs while maintaining compliance with all health, safety, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicles in accordance with specified quality procedures and maintenance standards.
  • Perform maintenance activities safely, including work on powered-up vehicles when required.
  • Follow all applicable health and safety legislation, company policies, and safe work procedures.
  • Conduct daily fleet inspections.
  • Perform train and vehicle preparation activities.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance examinations and corrective maintenance work.
  • Utilize onboard computerized systems, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation to complete assigned work.
  • Perform shunting activities as required.
  • Exchange, repair, and replace vehicle assets and components.
  • Support rescue and recovery operations in the event of accidents or major vehicle failures.
  • Record maintenance activities, inspections, and work orders through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Supervise and/or coordinate subcontractor activities when required.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, briefings, and operational communications.
  • Read and interpret technical reports, procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and safety concerns.
  • Drive company vehicles as required and obtain a Non-Revenue Vehicle license.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support additional activities such as overhauls, software updates, and asset repairs as operationally required.
  • Operate the wheel truing machine when trained and authorized.
  • Other relevant responsibilities as assigned by manager.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a maintenance technician or certified automotive technician.
  • Educational background in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of the rail or vehicle maintenance environment is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to coach and share skills, knowledge, and information with others.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as operationally required.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily workload.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and work requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $33.30 per hour, plus benefits.
