Do you want to join a world leader in the railway sector? In Norway, Alstom is engaged in a major signaling project, which will carry out the renewal of the Norway train fleet (more than 400 trains) with the ERTMS technology with various classes of trains (passenger trains, locomotives and yellow machines). To support the project is Alstom currently looking for a Logistic Engineer to oversee the set-up and management of the project’s warehouse.  


The position will be based in Oslo but might entail some traveling activities.


Main tasks and responsibilities

These tasks are conducted in coordination with the Supply Chain and Logistics team

Inbound flow:

  • Assure a correct and agile reception of the materials received from the suppliers.
  • Define/Improve Suppliers delivery requirements and packaging specifications
  • Check that received material packaging comply with ergonomic and EHS requirements


  • Control that we have the correct tools and organization to assure the adequate, handling and storage of received material.
  • Optimization of the warehouse layouts, its internal flows and storage policy
  • Maintain of storage locations in the system and supervise inventories
  • Control and management of perishable products and special storage


  • Improve the KANBAN process to manage the small components (fasteners) procurement and stock
  • Define the necessary tools and structure for efficient management
  • Work with the suppliers, warehouse operators and installation team to optimize this flow QCD


  • Manage the kitting activities
  • Work on SAP deliverable to assure the QCD
  • Implementation of visual control systems and minimize the times of management. 

Outbound flow:

  • Improve the flow from warehouse to the tracks in the installation sites
  • On tracks logistics set-up
  • Return of material flow


  • Ensure that Quality, Cost and Time requirements are considered in the management of logistics operations
  • KPI calculation and follow-up for continuous improvement
  • Tools storage and calibration management



Skills and education

We require a bachelor or master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent, in addition to 2 to 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain. You have experience with SAP, material scheduling, inventory management and procurement techniques. It would be considered a bonus if you are familiar with Alstom processes.


As a person you are rigorous, structured and able to works both autonomously and proactively with your projects. You have excellent team working and communications skills, as well as the ability to adapt in a complex multicultural environment. You must also be fluent in English and preferably have proficiency in a Scandinavian language.
