Your mission? 

 

As a Training and Competency Assessor, you will assist the Training & Competency Manager in ensuring that staff working on our fleets are technically trained and demonstrably competent to carry out their tasks and responsibilities in line with current legislation and industry standards for all traction and rolling stock operational activities. To ensure that relevant training and competency assessments are carried out with minimum disruption to production and that the relevant documentation is maintained and kept up to date.

Your key responsibilities? 

 

  • Carry out competency assessments on production and depot operations staff, certifying competence and ensuring records are maintained to an auditable standard that meets the requirements of current legislation for depot operations 

  • Monitor the training and assessment needs of staff over multiple locations across the UK for:  

  • Depot Drivers 

  • Shunters 

  • DP  

  • Depot Operations Controller  

  • PTS 

  • Continuous improvement of Training Courses to meet industry and company standards (monitor updates in Rule Book)  

  • Delivery of Human Factors and Safety Critical Communications 

  • Maintain occupational competence to drive and assess depot movements 

  • Carry out Risk Assessments on appropriate work tasks, training interventions and assessments at all depots as required. 

  • Develop and deliver training courses, technical and other e.g. train driving, shunting, familiarisation, rule book, depot protection, Personal Track Safety, Depot Track Safety 

  • Carrying out in-process audits, product assurance, verification and compliance checks at location. 

  • Responsible for entering data into the technical competency management systems to support the needs of all depots and the team. 

 

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Qualified to High School GCSE Level B or above in English and Maths 

  • Competent to prioritising their own work 

  • Ability to work with little supervision 

  • Engineering background and experience 

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office 

  • Qualified assessor (D32/33 or A1) 

  • Qualifications in training techniques and processes (City & Guilds 7331, NVQ 4 learning & development) or equivalent) 

  • Occupational competence professional log for depot operations duties  

  • Fluent English (negotiation level required) 

  • Willingness to travel
