Your future role

Join our Nowergup team as a Shunter, where you'll play a key role in safely moving and positioning rail vehicles to support daily rail operations and maintenance activities. Working closely with Yard Masters, Team Leaders, and operational teams, you'll help ensure trains are prepared and delivered efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to develop specialist rail skills, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and build a long-term career in a dynamic and safety-focused rail environment. We’ll look to you for;

• Performing safe and efficient railcar movements in accordance with operating procedures and rail safety requirements.
• Supporting the coordination and control of rail movements under the direction of Yard Masters and Team Leaders.
• Collaborating with operational and maintenance teams to ensure trains are prepared and delivered to schedule.
• Following work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and task sequencing requirements to achieve quality outcomes.
• supporting fault finding, troubleshooting, and authorised specialised tasks to support maintenance activities.
• Recording maintenance activities, work progress, and issue status accurately using relevant systems and documentation.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, and efficiency.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and workplace organisation in line with 5S principles.
• Responding to breakdowns, operational disruptions, and urgent maintenance requirements as required.
• Complying with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
