Purpose of the Job/Objective
- Manage the RAM and Safety activities and related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments during project/product development phase
- Manage the Safety activities and related deliverables during operation and maintenance phase (for Service business)
- Apply the applicable Alstom/Engineering RAMS processes & instructions.

Responsibilities
- To plan and pilot the RAM and Safety activities in tender phase to assess the capability and risks of the foreseen Alstom product to meet the customer requirements and to perform preliminary RAM and Safety performance analysis.
- To plan and pilot the RAM and Safety activities and the related deliverables on the projects/products development phase he/she is appointed.
- To plan and pilot Safety activities on operation and maintenance phase especially for Service business (402/2013 safety analysis, Common Safety Method, Explicit Risk Estimation)
- To perform the projects/products RAM and Safety activities compliant with the QCD work packages commitments.
- To ensure the adequacy of the RAMS deliverables fosters their acceptance by the Customer within the limit of Alstom commitments and for Safety ones by the Independent parties (ISA, NoBo, DeBo,…).
- To assess and demonstrate the level of Safety achieved by Alstom product (taking into account Software and Hardware contributions) in projects phases to ensure its adequacy as the applicable Alstom Safety policy and instructions.
- To know and manage the principal RAMS European and international standards applicable to rail sector.
- To continuously assess the capability of the Alstom product to meet the Reliability performance in project phases and define the necessary reliability actions to minimize Alstom risks and follow them until closure (Reliability Related Item List).
- To define and transfer in a timely manner the necessary safety requirement to put under control the relevant railway safety risks and follow them until closure (Safety Related Item List/Hazard Log).
- To support the other stakeholders (design, industrial, sourcing, validation, maintenance etc..) in the definition of appropriate measures to meet the safety and reliability actions and to follow their closure through appropriate documented evidence.
- To consolidate the RAMS contribution from external suppliers or other entities
- To perform the safety and RAM design reviews in accordance with project schedule.
- To coordinate the RAMS contributors from different entities (e.g supplier).
- To manage the interface with the independent parties (ISA, NoBo, Debo) on the project on ensure all open points are allocated and addressed.
- To apply the Alstom Engineering rules & processes on the programs/products in particular those dedicated to the RAM and Safety activities.
- To report the progress of the tender/project RAM and Safety activities and alert the Project Engineering Manager in case of issue potentially impacting the achievement of the QCD commitments.
- To anticipate and alert on the potential blocking issues regarding the expectations of the next Reliability and Safety design review milestone and be pro-active in the definition/implementation of the related resolution plan.
- To have a pro-active approach on the design to support in the definition adequate of technical solutions to put under control the railway safety risks.
- To have a pro-active challenging view on the overall RAM results from the contributors to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the RAM studies and requirements.
- To seek for the technical understanding of the Alstom products in order to better assess their RAMS performance and potential areas of improvement.
- To adopt a product-oriented mind-set in implementing the RAMS process to foster the capitalization of the results of the activities towards the product RAMS performance.
- To participate to the improvement/definition of the RAMS process.
Job Specifications
Knowledge & Experience
- Safety and RAM analysis and tools with no or 2 to 5 years of experience, preferably in rail industry
- Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical/Automation/Aerospace engineering academic background
- Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties
- Time management and goal oriented
- Sense of urgency / priority
- Customer & Product Focus.
- Structured and organized with Hands-on approach
- English operational in reading/writing and speaking within technical meetings.
