We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Site Maintenance Engineering Manager position within the Industrialisation Department. The position will report to the Head of Industrialisation and is based in Dunnottar, Nigel (Gauteng Province).

 

Job Purpose

  • Oversee and coordinate all the activities related to industrial maintenance.
  • Assure that machinery work safe and efficiently
  • Managing and executing corrective and preventive maintenance plans for all the industrial systems and machinery

Key Responsibilities

 Key responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Oversee the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring that efficiency and safety objectives are met.
  • Evaluate and approve the purchase of equipment, spare parts and supplies necessary for maintenance activities.
  • Plan and coordinate major maintenance projects, including installation of new equipment and upgrades of existing systems.
  • Draft and upkeep contingency plan for critical machines to allow production continuity.
  • Recruit, train and manage maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative, efficient and motivating work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and develop training and professional development plans for maintenance technicians.
  • Manage the maintenance department budget, controlling costs and optimizing the use of resources.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations in all maintenance activities.
  • Implement and supervise safety and training programs for maintenance personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies and advanced technologies to optimize the performance of equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments and suppliers to ensure the correct execution of projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs and component replacements.
  • Prepare regular reports on the status of equipment, compliance with maintenance plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage contracts with maintenance SLA providers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and ensure quality and service standards are met.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree ( Mechanical / Electrical).
  • GCC (Government Certificate of Competency).
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in rail and/or allied heavy engineering industry ideally in Engineering & large site management.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations applicable to heavy machinery.
  • Knowledge of lifting machinery, lifting tackle, and fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Knowledge in the use of maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • MBA will be advantageous.
