YOUR FUTURE ROLE

 

You will provide leadership and overall accountability for developing and maintaining the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link project schedules. Your work will enable effective management of the project’s time commitments throughout delivery.

 

WE’LL LOOK TO YOU TO:

  • Develop, prepare, and monitor integrated project schedules from design through final delivery.
  • Coordinate planning activities across all stakeholders and support clear communication between teams.
  • Lead and coach subsystem project planners, aligning their outputs and priorities.
  • Lead regular schedule reviews, challenge assumptions, and identify opportunities to improve time performance.
  • Analyse critical paths, schedule risks, constraints, and resource loading; develop mitigation actions to support timely completion.
  • Prepare regular status reports, forecasts, and planning updates.
  • Use Primavera P6 for detailed scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
  • Use TILOS to develop and optimise linear schedules that integrate time and distance in a clear graphical view.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and KPIs in Alstom’s internal planning system, OdyC.
  • Optimise schedules and run project simulations to support informed planning decisions.
  • Support the claims strategy and prepare schedule analyses for extension-of-time claims.

 

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Timely and accurate updates to schedules and time-related KPIs.
  • Timely development of schedule-related documents.
  • Schedules maintained in line with defined quality standards.

 

ALL ABOUT YOU

We value passion and attitude as much as experience. You do not need to meet every requirement; the following qualifications and experience will help you succeed and grow in this role:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another relevant field.
  • Five to seven years’ scheduling experience on large engineering projects, preferably in infrastructure or rail.
  • Ability to interpret construction documentation and adapt schedules accordingly.
  • Proven experience developing and monitoring schedules across all project phases.
  • Experience using TILOS for linear scheduling and project optimisation.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify critical paths, risks, and resource constraints.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-coordination skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Familiarity with the rail industry.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling theory and methods, including earned value management (EVM).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and working knowledge of another scheduling tool, such as Microsoft Project or TILOS.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel or comparable data-analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of time-related contractual practices and delay-analysis methods.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with demonstrated leadership of technical teams.
  • Adaptability in a multicultural, fast-changing environment.
