Overview:
Nomad are on the lookout for a Contract Manager to join our legal division.
The Contract Manager oversees the execution and ongoing administration of contracts to ensure smooth and efficient business operations across the various regions (EMEA, NA and APAC). The Contract Manager is responsible for contractual risk management and will ensure business operations deliver expected value. They act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external parties, identifying contractual issues early and ensuring obligations, timelines and performance standards are met. Their role may include supporting in the drafting and reviewing of contract terms, supporting negotiations, monitoring performance, resolving disputes and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the contract lifecycle.
This is a hybrid role based in our Newcastle office, 2 days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the review of tender documents and identifying commercial/contractual risks.
- Ensuring internal stakeholders understand obligations, pricing assumptions and risk positions.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure project risk registers are up to date and accurate.
- Support and collaborate closely with Legal Counsel throughout the full contract lifecycle, providing input into contract documentation, ensuring consistency across schedules, pricing and technical annexes, and proactively engaging Legal on matters requiring formal advice during contract execution, variation, claims management and dispute resolution.
- Ensuring all mandatory requirements (bonds, insurance, certificates etc) are in place as required.
- Conducting a formal contract handover to operations, finance and project teams including the review of purchase orders.
- Assist project teams in reviewing and drafting contractual correspondence .
- Monitoring contractual obligations and compliance by both parties.
- Monitor deliverables, milestones, KPIs and SLAs.
- Identifying deviations, risks or potential claims early.
- Managing the issue of contractual notices, change requests or contract variations
- Managing extensions, renewals and contract amendments.
- Overseeing subcontractor performance where relevant.
- Identifying potential claims (extensions of time, change in law, variations, additional costs) and preparing or supporting claim submissions with evidence. Assist in the management of disputes through formal processes.
- Promote best practice contract management techniques including providing contract awareness training to operational managers.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales advantageous but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and contract law.
- Experience in technology or engineering contracts with ability to handle complex issues.
- Experience in contract management and claims handling.
- Experience managing customers and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrates a pragmatic and creative commercial approach to contractual issues.
- Foreign language skills (French, German) advantageous but not essential.
- 3-5 years of Contract Management experience
- Law degree advantageous but not essential
