The Materials Control Coordinator is responsible for the control of materials, inventory records, requisition
of materials, reorder point levels, lead times and maintains all records in established systems and in
accordance with material control policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities and challenges
1. Leadership – Coordinates with departments to accurately monitor stock levels and inventory, adjust errors in records, avoid shortages, overstock and dead inventory. 35 %
2. Collaborate – Create effective relationships with managers, peers, subordinates and clients by displaying conduct that inspires trust, respect and reflects a shared purpose in achieving organization’s goals. Collaborate with Buyer and department managers to effectively coordinate their material requirements with timely receivables, storage and disbursements. 20 %
3. Plan & Schedule – Implement and coordinate contingency plans for changes or events that affect the supply of materials. Keep organization informed about delivery dates, order progress and status. 5 %
4. Administration – Record, review, track, analyze and report on inventory, cycle counts, consumables, rotating parts, budgets, inventory control systems and other warehousing metrics. Follow-up and follow-through ensuring commitments are met, issues are resolved and appropriate and complete communication and documentations are fulfilled. Ensure all material transactions are recorded accurately and completely in Company systems. 20 %
5. Safety – Abide by all safety rules, procedures and monitor/audit activities to ensure compliance with safe work procedures and housekeeping. Investigate and address safety concerns and issues. Report completely and honestly about incidents/accidents and other issues that are raised to your attention. 20 %
Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
( Education, Years of experience)
Bachelor’s degree and specialized training in materials management desired. 5 years experience in
material warehousing, inventory control, distribution, shipping, receiving and storage. Advanced level
skills in Windows Operating systems and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to express ideas, problems
and solutions orally and in writing in accordance with accepted rules of English grammar.
Knowledge of the Business
Understand, communicate and execute on material assets as stated in commercial agreement,
departmental requirements and Bombardier’s warehousing policies and procedures. Organize day-to-day
work, implementation of good practices for shipping, receiving, storage and disbursement of materials.
Define material metrics, implement targets for budget, overtime and monitor and track expenditures and
variances and develop remedial plans to ensure objectives and targets are met and uses Company
systems to track and monitor material assets.
Leadership – Management or Technical
Capable of inspiring team to achieve goals through active employee participation and can collaborate
across departmental lines and boundaries to resolve issues and to guide change in a positive manner.
Coach and develop store room employees to maintain inventory and inventory recordkeeping and in
providing excellent customer.
Problem Solving
Competent in solving problems and executing effective corrective measures. Have can do points of view.
Ensures all appropriate measures are taken to avoid delays and interruptions in supply and deman chain
and actions are taken to prevent or minimize reoccurrence of problems and issues. Develop good
working relationships with vendors and suppliers in order to ensure delivery of materials at the prices,
quality and times required.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Exhibits respect for individuals, have the ability to express ideas orally and in writing in accordance with
accepted rules of English grammar, provide clear directions and goals. Projects a desirable and capable
image that reflects confidence, safety and superior customer service.
Additional information and elements to consider
Will require flexibility and willingness to support an organization in a 24/7 work environment. Safety
sensitive position that is subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
