Could you be the full-time Field Service Engineer in Newark, NJ we’re looking for?

Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering and ATC system expertise in a new cutting-edge field.

As our new Field Service Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the Newark APM. You’ll specifically take care of new project design, installation, and execution, along with providing technical support for other mechanical subsystems, but also engage in preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable APM performance.

We’ll look to you for:
- Providing technical direction for engineering, maintenance, and repair activities for assigned systems, and participating in department budget development.
- Leading reliability improvement projects, managing vendors and suppliers, and ensuring projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Analyzing major service interruptions and developing comprehensive engineering incident/investigation reports, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Developing and maintaining preventive and corrective maintenance programs in line with contractual requirements and company directives.
- Creating and delivering technical training, testing, and certification documents, and teaching classes as needed.
- Handling field requests, temporary change notices, and system improvements through established company channels.

All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant mechanical experience with trains or rolling stock, and 2 years of engineering or technical experience.
- Relevant certifications (AutoCAD) are preferred.
- Strong customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to pass local security screening and background requirements, and availability to support shifts on short notice.
- Proven success in leading teams, especially in a blue-collar, union environment, is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and situational problems efficiently.
