The Wayside Engineer provides technical support to the Operations and Maintenance Departments including engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, test procedures, analyses, investigations and advanced troubleshooting of operating equipment for the AirTrain JFK operatio.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist the Engineering Department to deliver within cost, schedule, quality, performance, and safety targets.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Wayside electronics systems.
  • Provide technical direction & support to wayside personnel who maintain wayside electrical, electronic and communication systems.
  • Assist with second/third level repairs and troubleshooting skills development.
  • Provide on-call support for major downtime events.
  • Detect, define, and implement system modifications to improve reliability and serviceability, ensuring On-Time-Performance and system availability targets are met.
  • Support Capital Asset Replacement Program (CARP) planning and execution, facilitating timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Ensure that applicable Customer and System Requirements are identified and adhered to throughout design, commissioning, and Operation and Maintenance phases.
  • Prepare Engineering Investigation Reports identifying root cause of emergent downtime events and performance trends, and facilitate corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Optimize the scope and related tasks of the System Maintenance Plan.
  • Ensure that processes, methods & tools are applied consistently across projects and actively contribute to their continuous improvement.
  • Manage system configuration and updates to technical documentation where applicable.
  • Supports Safety Department ensuring safety risks are mitigated in a timely manner.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE:

 

Education

  • BS in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or equivalent
  • MS in Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering or equivalent (Desirable)

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Operations and Maintenance of electronics & telecommunications equipment, including Radio Systems, SCADA, Fiberoptic Network, Platform Screen Door System, and Automatic Train Control.
  • Knowledge of AirTrain JFK systems and procedures (Desirable)
