Objective:

Supervise and assist with repair activities in respective areas to ensure safety of all employees and repair labs.  Coordinate work with other work center supervisors and new product development & obsolescence engineer.  Monitor and evaluate daily activities.  Review and report on monthly results to work center manager.  Review and update risk assessments regularly.  Assist with performing required annual training for department.  Assist with performing safety audits.  Perform annual employee evaluations. Develop new products to be serviced by the work center.  Work with new product development & obsolescence engineer and work center manager on requirements for bringing in new work.  Safely operate bench test equipment to perform validations and repairs on railroad HVAC/Galley equipment, electronic, computer, electrical, and mechanical controllers while adhering to production schedules.  Interpret electronic, electrical, and mechanical schematics/drawings with the ability to identify components.  Perform repairs using manual and power tools.  Work on wide range of electronic equipment, computer systems, and mechanical equipment with the possession of strong analytical troubleshooting skills.  Perform automated and manual testing on circuit boards, computer systems, HVAC/Galley and high voltage mechanical equipment. Lead the creation of cost analyses, technical proposals, documentation, and assist with sourcing parts for new product development. Complete development and time studies on new or existing equipment to identify measurable opportunities to decrease test and repair times while not having an adverse effect reliability.  Point of contact for the planning department with scheduling of maintenance and repairs in respective work center.  Interact with other departments and customers to assist with specific task completion, failure/root cause analysis, and quality issues.  Follow all electronic, electrical, mechanical and CFC safety requirements.  Use MS Office programs to include Access for creating reports and analysis.  Use SAP to input and track completed refurbishment orders.

  • Adhere to established safety procedures in Technical Work Center and New Castle Facility.
  • Supervise and assist with repair activities in respective assigned repair centers.
  • Responsible for EHS and Safety for the work group.
  • Ensure that all risk assessments and training are up to date.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of their group.
  • Ensure that staffing is adequate for anticipated workload.
  • Review employee’s goals and objectives.
  • Review and validate time records.
  • Update weekly status report for all work center critical issues and project status.
  • Create monthly status report and present results to work center manager.
  • Assist manager and new product development & obsolescence engineer with development of new projects and products specific towards assigned repair cells.

  • Ability to work with the planning department to prioritize maintenance and repairs for the Technical Work Center.
  • Ensure all data entry is at or near 100% accuracy for Technical Work Center.
  • Facilitate training for entire department.
  • Problem-solving and innovation skills to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.
  • Create and interpret electronic, electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Working in ESD facility.
  • Works with engineering department to resolve issues.
  • Working with compressed air and pneumatic tools and equipment.
  • Use precision measuring devices. Operate oscilloscope, voltmeter, megger, chart recorder, high voltage DC & AC power supplies.
  • Safe use and operation of power tools to include but not limited to:  drill, drill press, chop saw, angle grinder, and table saw.
  • Safe use and operation of hand tools to include but not limited to:  wire crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, wrenches, torque wrenches, files, and socket sets.
  • Repair 120 / 240 VAC equipment.
  • Familiar with Dos, Windows 95 to current, M.S. Office with strong Excel skills, and basic understanding of LON communications.
  • Proper use of PPE while preforming daily tasks.

 

Educational Requirements

Two to four-year degree in management or five years of prior experience as lead, supervisor, or management.

 

Experience (Essential Functions)

  • Minimum 10 years of experience with electronic, electro-mechanical and HVAC/Galley testing/repairs.
  • Five years working on rail systems. Design and build test simulators.  Assembly and installation of new equipment on rail systems. 

 

Working Conditions (Industrial/Environmental)

  • Primarily day shift operations from 7AM to 4PM.
  • Environmental conditions include but are not limited to dust/dirt, solvents associated with cleaning, solder fume, and working with exposure to the elements.

 

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other test equipment. 
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. 
  • Ability to lift equipment at minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Mental requirements include critical thinking, time management, analytical thinking, with the ability to determine necessity of escalation.
