Maintenance Technical Support Engineer (High Voltage)

 

Objective

 

Safely operate bench test equipment to perform validation and repairs on railroad power modules. Perform repairs using manual and power tools. Work on equipment under the direction of the shop supervisor. Use technical expertise to assist shop technicians with daily tasks when needed. Perform automated and manual testing on high voltage equipment. Follow all electronic, electrical, mechanical, and CFC safety requirements. Use MS Office programs including Access for creating reports, work procedures, and performing data analysis. Use SAP to input and track completed tasks.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

  • Adhere to established safety procedures in Technical Work Center and New Castle Facility.
  • Ability to validate and repair equipment within the High Voltage Work Center.
    • Validation, repair, and testing on power modules.
    • Use, operate, and repair of high voltage power modules and test equipment.
    • Assemble and repair electrical and mechanical systems: wiring, connectors, and contactors.
    • Perform flow testing using precision pneumatic gauges.
  • Working in a high voltage shop/facility.
  • Assist with building and repairing bench test equipment.
  • Working with compressed air and pneumatic tools and equipment.
  • Use precision measuring devices. Operate oscilloscope, digital multimeter, megger, hi-pot, high voltage DC & AC power supplies.
  • Safe use and operation of power tools to include but not limited to drills, pneumatic presses, pneumatic tools.
  • Safe use and operation of hand tools to include but not limited to wire crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, wrenches, torque wrenches, files, and socket sets.
  • Familiar with Windows operating system and MS office.
  • Interpretation of schematics and data collected by instrumentation to ensure proper system operation and to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Interact, update, and produce reports for other business entities such as: program management, quality, procurement, and customers.
  • Create, review, and modify existing functional test procedures in Alstom format.
  • Proper use of PPE while performing daily tasks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and customers.

 

Education Requirement:

 

University degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical training (Military/Trade school/etc), or in lieu of formal training 10+ years in a related technical discipline.

 

Experience: 

 

  • Mandatory:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering or other technical field.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock equipment
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office

 

  • Desireable: 
  • Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance
  • Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
