Objectives

The role is directly responsible for work packages to deliver savings for projects on the East Coast aligning the Regions business strategy and with the needs of the individual program(S) This role will co-ordinate the multiple métiers to deliver optimal business cases/plans to execute the these by reducing cost and or risks. The Project Manager – MvB East Coast directly reports to the East Coast Service Operations Director.

Activity will initially be focused on the Amtrak Next Gen TSSSA contract and will evolve along with the growth of the business in the US East coast.  

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Full Project Management responsibility for the Overhaul and Corrective work for subsystems to  determine the optimal solution to deliver Quality, Cost savings and On-Time delivery. Prepare input to the project(s) MPR and CPR.
  • Support Strategy and Business development activities related to Maintenance across the Region, as needed by Strategy, Commercial and Bid teams. In line with the strategy for the East Coast Projects and Operations.
  • Manage and execute the Make vs Buy for the Projects on the East Coast
    • Optimizing costs to reduce the LCC and deliver project savings and reducing risk in the execution of each subsystem
    • Align the business cases with the Strategy of the Region and Service projects for the East Coast
    • Produce the business cases coordinating the inputs from multiple métiers; Sourcing, Supply Chain, Industrial Project and Site, Engineering, Contracts, Finance
      • In line with current and future (new site) capabilities
      • In line with the project(s) SBE/DBE and Buy America Requirements
    • Considering Supply chain efficiencies and for repair/build of components the local knowledge/expertise in the USA.
  • Produce business cases for each identified work package within the project(s) detailing a full cost analysis, using a structured business model to give a clear rationale for the work package.
  • Proactively advise and propose improvements on any service project questions (operations, contracts), across the East Coast.
  • Active Member of the East Coast Service Management Team.

 

Educational Requirements

BS/BA or an equivalent combination of experience/education

 

Experience (Essential Functions)

15 + years of experience in the field of Project Management and Maintenance, in railway/rolling stock environment.

 

Working Conditions (Industrial/Environmental)

  • Job located on the US East Coast. Frequent travels along the east coast. Travel from time to time across the region.
