Key Accountabilities

Obsolescence Management

  • Define Alstom organization for Obsolescence Management, and be Process Owner for Obsolescence Management, ensuring that Alstom’s Obsolescence Management process is aligned with Alstom objectives, customer requirements and norms
  • Manage regional Obsolescence Management team (if needed); set and manage budgets
  • Manage Reference Library for Obsolescence Management
  • Facilitate and support the development and maintenance of obsolescence management plans with Product Platforms and Projects (Build & Service)
  • Produce, review and validate obsolescence management plans with Sourcing and Supply Chain, develop obsolescence management capability in Suppliers through use of Supplier Charter, Audits and Obsolescence Management Plans

 

Expertise, Tool & System Development:

  • Manage Obsolescence Management CCN (Core Competence Network)
  • Develop and deploy technical tools & systems to manage obsolescence
  • Ensure that future Alstom IS development takes account of obsolescence management needs
  • Share experience & knowledge of obsolescence management with others

Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

Engineering degree, or equivalent (recognized university degree)

 

Desirable:

Member of Engineering Institute, or equivalent

MIIOM or FIIOM (International Institute of Obsolescence Management)

Experience

 

Mandatory:

10 years experience in technical role in rail or similar industry (Manager minimum 5 years experience)

Knowledge of rail vehicles & sub-systems

Knowledge of Information Systems including ERP and Product Data Management

 

Desirable:

Knowledge of electronic system design and industrialization, preferably in rail or similar

 

Competencies & Skills

  • Expertise in Obsolescence Management (Alstom World Class Engineering) – Expert or above
  • English language (minimum Level 2 if not mother tongue)
  • Additional language French, German, Italian or Spanish (minimum Level 2 if not mother tongue)
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – managing a remote team and a remote network of correspondents
  • Continuous improvement – ability to innovate continuously and effectively
  • Organization and planning – good time management and delivery
  • Communication skills – international, and with internal and external correspondents at senior level
