The scope of the GO Expansion project includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

 

An Integrated Control Center (ICC) Project Architect is a key contributor to the development of an ICC System, which typically consists of several subsystems: SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), ATS (Automated Train Supervision) and MSM (Maintenance and Security Management).

 

Responsibilities

Overall:

  • Design subsystem solution in line with project needs
  • Identify project gaps with the standard product and evolution path for the solution
  • Discuss subsystem solution with the customer
  • Manage subsystem solution throughout project execution
  • Control internal and external interfaces
  • Coordinate and support the development, Integration, and Verification & Validation of the solution
  • Define application rules and engineering process
  • Determine subsystem migration and deployment strategy
  • Integrate solution components into functional system

 

Subsystem / software specifications and architecture design:

  • Responsible for specifications (requirements) and Operational context description (user story)
  • Responsible for design documentation based on internal (peer) reviews or customer comments
  • Update and clarify the documentation during the design, development, and mock-up presentation phases, based on internal (design reviews) and customer feedback
  • Ensure that the design and the implementation of the solution complies with the Safety and Cybersecurity requirements

 

Integration

  • Validate technical procedures defining the integration of the subsystem and the external interfaces
  • Follow-up and provide advice on all the integration activities (integration with other Subsystems and external interfaces)

 

Subsystem validation

  • Follow-up and provide advice on all the validation activities at System level
  • Ensure that the subsystem complies with all the System requirements and the original customer contract as well as with any other implicit requirements resulting thereof  
  • Support and follow up on Requirements Traceability, starting from the System level, to subsystems, software and to external interfaces

 

Experience

  • BA's degree in Engineering 
  • P. Eng certification
  • 10 years of experience in architecture and development
  • Experience in any of the following domain is an asset: Railway industry, System Engineering (System Requirements, System Architecture, System Integration) or large Control Center Systems (Energy, Pipeline and similar) and their typical integration challenges

 

Technical Skills & Competencies

Experience with the following technologies: OPC UA/DA, Modbus, SNMP, XML, C#, SQL and SQL server

Configuration management tools (Clearcase, Perforce, Git), tracking tools (IBM ClearQuest, IBM RTC, Jira) and requirement management tools (IBM DOORS)

Awareness of CyberSecurity principles

Awareness of Agile principles (SCRUM in particular)

Knowledge of existing similar Alstom products is considered a major asset.
