PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Drive the execution of projects with high criticality, according to contractual requirements and customer expectations (summarized in contract charter), to maximize the results with respect to cash and margin whilst delivering on time, in conformity with Alstom project management and execution processes,
  • Accountability for project Quality Cost Delivery Planning (QCDP) and project Environment Health & Safety (EHS),
  • Ensure Alstom legal and contractual rights are protected,
  • Seek and propose to the Customer Director / Platform additional opportunities.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversees Project Managers/Directors and Leads Project Management function for Asset Life Management (ALM), Engineering, Parts & Components Repair Overhaul (PCRO )Services North America (NAM)
  • Accountability for overseeing Project Directors and their adherence to project QDCP performance and ability to optimize Project Financial performance (Margin and Cash)
  • Lead the Projects Planning function, develop detailed bottom-up plans & timelines for all projects including resources capacity and material delivery schedules plans. Establish the projects critical path and budget risks as well as recovery plans. Develop robust project Key performance indicators and expertise in alignment with Alstom standards
  • Ensure that projects are delivered as per Quality Cost Deliver (QCD) commitment by the operations centers
  • Ensure that projects QCD forecast is reliable and Risk and Opportunities are managed
  • Manage Cash Performance Review (CPR) process with PMO and Services NAM Finance project control
  • Challenge the Services NAM operations centers to ensure proper projects delivery
  • Oversee Project Managers, including the staffing plan for new projects, or replacement needs
  • Ensure Project Management methods and tools deployment across the region

 

Monitor, Lead and coordinate project activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out including:

  • Ensuring proper transfer from tender to project
  • Definition of Project objectives and main drivers (product/service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract
  • Resources management:
  • Make sure that key project stakeholders are aligned towards project/ goals.
  • Engage project teams in the successful achievement of project objectives and strengthen relationships among them
  • Synchronize internal partners and arbitrate when necessary
  • Alignment with contractual requirements and management of variation orders. Arbitration of Q, C, D, P re-baselining and change management at project level. Manage claim and litigations if needed
  • Proactive risk, saving and opportunity management
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, instructions and standards: Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, Quality, Project Management Manual

 

MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES

Experience

  • 15 year experience as project manager in railway industry of which at least 5 year experience of high critical projects
  • Experience of working in and with multi-national companies and in different business cultures
