Our most recent project is the Réseau express métropolitain (REM). REM will be the fourth largest automated transportation system in the world once completed and is also the largest public transit project in Quebec since the Montreal Metro. The future integrated network will link downtown Montreal, the South and North Shores, the West Island and the airport. Alstom is looking for qualified candidates to fill positions on this exciting new chapter of urban transit in Montreal.

With Alstom growing activities in Canada, We are looking for a buyer for the electrical commodity.



Reporting hierarchically to the Country Sourcing Manager, your main mission will be :

  • Strong involvement and implementation of commodities strategy (or define it for specific segment)
  • Manage some global subcontractor panel relationship ( FA, Partnership,..)
  • Responsible for commodity QCDT and legal supplier performance management
  • Operational sourcing responsability on negociation, cross sites/businesses bundling
  • Animate Saving Plan by leveraging Desing to Cost, LCC, Volumes...



The Buyer will:

Subcontractor relationship:

· Manage some global subonctractor relationship (FA, Partnership program, ...) 

· Ensure global QCDT targets achievement, CONQ** & claims management for the global subcontractors in charge

· Lead subcontractor QCDT performance reviews

· Respect Alstom Transport code of ethics and guidelines.


Commodity support:

· Commodity representative

· Consolidation of commodity needs, inputs

- Strong imput to build differenciation for AT through subcontractor innovation

· Active participation to commodity strategy and panel elaboration

· According to delegation, define a strategy for specific segment

· Build Sourcing Tender commitment

· Effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving

· Apply the Alstom Transport Sourcing process, and provide return on experience.


Operational involvement:

- In charge of Buyer activity for Electrical commodity

· Effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving

- Operational sourcing responsability on negociation, cross sites/PLs bundling

- Lead Saving Plan by leveraging Design to Cost, LCC, Volumes ...



  • Educational requirements

Business school or Engineering degree with a Master degree

  • Technical Knowledge / Experience

Experience minimum 5 years in Industry
Fluent French & English + International background
Minimum of three years working experience in purchasing
Technical and strong market knowledge of the commodity

  • Behavioral and Technical Skills / Competencies

Strong interpersonal skills (leadership, communication, ability to convince)

Fluent in French and English

  • Job Location / Mobility

Montreal Canada,  with travels within the country and abroad.
