Services Engineering is a key function of Services NAM (Americas). The function provides engineering expertise and technical solutions to the various Business Units (BU) of Services. We support Operations and Maintenance (O&M) sites, as well as lead the design efforts for Asset Life Management (modernization, upgrades, overhauls of rail vehicles) and support the Parts Obsolescence BU. We provide engineering support to all products maintained by Alstom that operate in the North American market (automated people movers, light rail vehicles, commuters, metros, locomotives), as well as several of the infrastructure components (guideways, stations, depots, electrification and power distribution). We are 180 professionals located in 17 different sites across the continent.

Expert in the Validation System, with the ability to optimize, access, and able to motivate, and  inspire the team to performance their job. 

 

Customer Focus – able to guide and prioritize to help close sales quickly for Short term Sales. 

  • Effectively with other members of the organization, including upper management, sales teams, and customers to properly prioritize and understand the needs of the customer.

 

 

Process Improvement - Enter into a 700 P/N backlog, with multiple issues that can only be addressed by process improvement, new work style training for the team

  • Identify opportunities to maximize the use of best cost engineering resource  and establish practices to encourage workflow improvements to enhance the organization’s productivity.

 

 

Lead a team of Engineering (8) with meetings , planning and training which are needed to accomplish the goals set for the team.

  • Lead , Train, direct,  guidance; mentor 8 new Validation tech. And Engineers. With only 1 senior validation expert in group in addition

As a Parts and Components Validation Mechanical Engineer, what are my responsibilities?

 

Apply the knowledge to design, verify and validate parts solutions when OEM parts hfor validation. Work on 200 + contracts, follow the validation process

 

You will actively participate and contribute to the aggressive growth of the Parts & Components business and reduce the back log.

 

  • Ensure all the parts proposal will be meeting the customer specifications in form, fit and function, railway safety, reliability, industrial norms, and standards.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the project specification and its requirements relating to the electrical design tasks associated with the parts requested.
  • Prepare electrical and interface schematics, drawings, and documentation of assigned systems and meet deliverable schedule.
  • Coordinate and lead efforts with vendors to confirm compliance with customer requirements. You will interface with the end customer and vendors to ensure compliance and validity of the design.
  • Maintain your knowledge of rail and electrical-electronic norms and standards such as FRA, AAR, IEEE, ANSI etc.
  • Provide electrical drawings, bills of material, detailed work scope, assembly and testing instructions for parts, equipment, and printed circuit boards as needed.
  • Work on bids proposals to repair, redesign, and overhaul electrical equipment, printed circuit boards and in general electrical and electronics parts used in the rail industry.
  • Provide instructions to drafters and designers for the development and preparation of schematics, layouts, assembly, and detail drawings. Provide engineering support during the production of the part, specify and select electrical or electronic components to be applied in the parts.
  • Provide customer technical support as needed.
  • Operate in the MMR process
  • Lead Design Reviews and Gate Reviews for electrical parts.
  • You will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Customers, Rolling Stock Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Auditors, Platform (Tenders, Reference Library, REX), Quality, Validation and Testing.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Have experience more then 10 years  in rail industry standards and design or with similar industry products such as transportation vehicles, and/or high-low voltage equipment, and discrete electronic components.

More then 5 years in experience invalidation process and differnt contracts.

 

Candidate must be a leader , very autonomous, with hands-on experience, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in unclear and ill-defined environments, and resourceful in finding information.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of rolling stock systems and components.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical/electronics design tools, MS Office, SAP, GSI, and Maximo (other ERP tools).
  • Knowledge of Alstom Design for Quality processes.
