Services Engineering is a key function of Services NAM (Americas). The function provides engineering expertise and technical solutions to the various Business Units (BU) of Services. We support Operations and Maintenance (O&M) sites, as well as lead the design efforts for Asset Life Management (modernization, upgrades, overhauls of rail vehicles) and support the Parts Obsolescence BU. We provide engineering support to all products maintained by Alstom that operate in the North American market (automated people movers, light rail vehicles, commuters, metros, locomotives), as well as several of the infrastructure components (guideways, stations, depots, electrification and power distribution). We are 180 professionals located in 17 different sites across the continent.

This role requires an expert in the Validation System with a focus on  GSI SAP and PDM . We want a customer focused attitude with a short term goal of backlog reduction and a long term goal of process optimization.

Customer Focus – able to guide and prioritize to help close sales quickly for Short term Sales. 

  • Effectively with other members of the organization, including upper management, sales teams, and customers to properly prioritize and understand the needs of the customer.

Process Training:

  • Support the Team Leader in evaluating the team’s technical competencies based on his/ her own experience 
  • Support the Team Leader in identifying and managing the technical competencies requested by the job profile for the respective process
  • Analyze the working environment for identifying performance issues and propose learning opportunities for the team members
  • Develop and deploy learning activities for an efficient knowledge transfer
  • Ensure the training and process documentation is up to date
  • Responsible of maintaining a process know how documentation accessible to all team members
  • Ensure the new team members are properly onboarded on all process topics 
  • Support the Team Leader in evaluating the new team members’ work and ensure their performance, from a process point of view
  • Communicate new processes while ensuring training of the team when the case
  • Lead in the Audits and Compliance for Validation 

Validation :

  • Adhere to customer dates and required deliverable for quotes and validation
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility 
  • Support Engineering in ensuring all the parts proposal will be meeting the customer specifications in form, fit and function, railway safety, reliability, industrial norms, and standards.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the project specification and its requirements relating to the electrical design tasks associated with the parts requested.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of multi validation ( MMR)
  • Coordinate and lead efforts with vendors to confirm compliance with customer requirements. You will interface with the end customer and vendors to ensure compliance and validity of the design within the MMR process
  • You will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Customers, Rolling Stock Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Auditors, Platform (Tenders, Reference Library, REX), Quality, Validation and Testing.

Process Improvement:

  • Optimize project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques - 2 years of experience in Procurement with technical and operational expertise 
  • Develop professionalism by learning proper business practices, Procurement manual/computerized procedures and processes affecting the procurement functions, and developing working knowledge of commodities and products
  • Identify and propose process improvement opportunities with the purpose of reducing cycle time and savings
  • Identify opportunities to maximize the use of best cost engineering resource  and establish practices to encourage workflow improvements to enhance the organization’s productivity.

  • Degree in Business, Commercial or Technical Field
  • Expertise in GSI SAP
  • Expertise in PDM
  • Experience in Validation Process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of rolling stock systems and components.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
  • Knowledge of Alstom Design for Quality processes.
  • Procurement knowledge
  • Practice in business processes, communication (written and oral presentation skills) and drawing interpretation knowledge
