Your future role

 

We have an opportunity available for a Graduate Project Engineer to join our team responsible for the delivery of the Sector 1 North (S1N) ETCS project in Brisbane, QLD. This critical project for QLF will install European Train Control System Level 2 signalling on the SEQ rail network, enhancing safety and capacity. In this role you will primarily be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of tools and processes for gathering and analyzing project data to keep costs and schedules on track. This includes initiating, planning, creating Work Breakdown Structures, monitoring and controlling, analysing, communicating, and closing out project costs and schedule. Based in the Brisbane CBD project office, you be required to travel to site in the Sunshine Coast periodically. In this role you will gain hands‑on experience, while working alongside experienced planners and cost engineers. You will also;

 

  • Learn the fundamentals of project scheduling by assisting in maintaining accurate scopes of work and updating schedules across multiple disciplines.
  • Support cross‑discipline coordination, helping integrate scheduling inputs and understand how different teams contribute to the overall project plan.
  • Build practical planning skills by assisting with activity duration estimates, work sequences, and schedule logic development.
  • Develop analytical capability through supporting quantity tracking, progress curves, and installation forecasts for assigned disciplines.
  • Gain exposure to resource planning, assisting with job‑hour estimates, manpower loading, and basic schedule levelling activities.
  • Help monitor project performance, identifying schedule variances and supporting the preparation of impact and progress reports.
  • Grow your cost engineering knowledge by supporting budgeting, estimating, cost reporting, and earned value analysis activities.
  • Work with real project data, collecting, analysing, and validating cost and schedule information to support informed decision‑making.
  • Learn to communicate insights clearly, contributing to the preparation of project financial and scheduling reports for stakeholders.

  • An Australian recognized Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Software or similar.

  • A willingness to learn and travel to site (Sunshine Coast) when required.
