Your future role

 

Alstom is looking for a Warranty Technician to support the maintenance and performance of the new Aventra Class 730 Fleet. You will follow Vehicle Maintenance Instruction/Vehicle Maintenance Procedure and test procedures, diagnose faults, provide on-train technical support, perform static functional testing, and deliver test reports.

 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Communicate with customers and colleagues, supporting operational requirements.
  • Diagnose, rectify, and analyse faults, including system preventative interventions.
  • Provide technical support to depot teams, Outstation, and ISST roles.
  • Perform fleet software updates and functionally test train-borne systems.
  • Use fault analysis tools (Fleet Monitor, OTDR, system log analysis).
  • Follow VMI/VMP procedures for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Work off-site as needed, covering the customer’s network.
  • Conduct test runs to resolve faults, especially repeat failures.
  • Review and validate test specifications, documentation, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support skill development within depots and train care points.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Assist the Warranty Engineer and test/repair faulty equipment.
  • Liaise with engineers to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Drive company vehicles when necessary.

  • HNC in an Engineering field or equivalent
  • IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail, Internet.
  • Good communication, verbal and written, report writing and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail Rules and Regulations.
  • Experienced in fleet and/or maintenance operations and planning workloads effectively.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant Traction and Rolling Stock
