Role Summary/Purpose:

The Hardware & IT Specialist will provide hands-on laboratory and IT support as part of the Wayside Product Development VV Team. Main role will be IT support & configuration (servers, ethernet switches, ports, computer net settings, system backups, etc.) and equipment construction for the lab (servers, customized test stations, cable sets, etc).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Configuration and setup of IT equipment
  • Create and maintain equipment & connections for a lab environment
  • Order & construct server and customized test racks according to schematic details
  • Modify and update schematics as required
  • Ability to do hands on work such as crimping, soldering, mounting test equipment into racks, etc.
  • General knowledge of meters & scopes to be used for diagnosing items such as cable sets, power supplies, etc and troubleshooting test racks.
  • Lab PC installation, OS upgrades, and license management
  • Assist Lab Manager to ensure ongoing EHS compliance in the lab

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma/ GED with minimum of 5 years of hardware & IT experience).
  • Experience using equipment such as ethernet switches, ethernet routers, meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies

  • Certified in or familiar with hand soldering per J-STD-001 I IPC-A-610
  • Certified in or familiar with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies
