Role Summary / Purpose

Alstom has an opening for a Software Configuration Manager in its Melbourne, FL location.


This position is for a highly motivated, energetic, Software Configuration Manager with configuration management experience and demonstrated capabilities setting up and maintaining automated build environments.


The evolving role in Software Configuration Management (SCM) requires CM experience coupled with Information Technology (IT) and Engineering knowledge.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Writing and managing configuration management plans (CMP).
  • Setting up, administering, and maintaining build environments (e.g. Jenkins servers and clients) and migrating from one build environment to another (i.e. migration from Hudson to Jenkins).
  • Developing scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms (experience with scripting languages:  perl, python, Groovy).
  • Performing continuous integration, patch, and baseline software builds of both internal and third party software, including fault diagnosis and documentation of any build failures.
  • Management and execution of cross functional software configuration control board (CCB) meetings, reporting status, key performance indicators (KPI), and return on experience (REX).
  • Developing and improving CM standards, practices and procedures for full life-cycle product support (design through delivery)



  • BS in Management Information Systems (MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience and demonstrated competency in Change Control and CM Principles
  • Experience running software configuration control board (CCB) meetings.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (Lascom PLM products (AEC))
  • Experience in a range of version control, continuous integration and build automation tools and approaches (including open source solutions) e.g. Jenkins, Hudson, RPMs, StarTeam, Jira, git.
  • Experience establishing build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Experience managing relationships between different teams
  • Experience with agile and iterative approaches to development, testing, build and release.
  • Experience in IT operations and/or systems integration
  • Experience working with server virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Experience working with Linux, Windows Server, and .NET
  • Familiarity with security concepts and processes for build systems
  • Demonstrated design and implementation of a cross platform build framework


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with IBM RTC highly desirable.
  • Rail domain product development experience (Wayside, Carborne, Office Systems)
  • CMMI knowledge and audit participation
