Key Responsibilities:
The Hardware Architect performs both analog and digital circuit design/analysis and product validation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform electronic circuit design and analysis in the areas of mixed signal design, analog design in particular is desired.
  • Define the hardware architecture, to include: Defining the functional and structural breakdown into hardware components, allocating the requirements to the components, defining the interfaces between the hardware components, defining the dynamic behavior of the hardware, and validating the feasibility of the solution though model simulation and/or mock-up
  • Define the hardware interfaces for the software
    • Perform real time testing and troubleshooting of mixed signal PCB assemblies.
    • Execute test procedures and record results in accordance with standard processes.
    • Analyze electronic circuits using lab equipment, including function generators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, ESD/EFT generator, isolation testers, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers, and assist in resolving open design issues during development including modifying designs via white wires and soldering through-­hole and SMT components.
  • Define the production test needs and strategy.
  • Define main technical decisions for hardware development, to include: tools and methodology, AFE architecture, DC/DC power/controllers, preferred parts list recommendations, and definition of CAD constraints.
  • Prepare and perform hardware requirements tests, integration tests and verifications of deliverables
    • Collaborate with various internal groups to provide troubleshooting support, root cause analysis and resolution for product issues.
    • Lead regulatory and customer mandated EMI/EMC compliance testing and troubleshooting.
    • Actively participate in design reviews and research and provide feedback on new electronic architectures and technologies as well as obsolescence redesigns.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hardware design engineering experience.
  • Analog design experience is a must.

 Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience troubleshooting PCB assemblies down to the component level, and performing environmental and EMC/EMI testing
  • Digital/microcontroller and FPGA/VHDL design a plus. 
  • Experience with fault injection testing (FIT) and environmental testing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with fail-safe/vital design and AREMA/CENELEC standards a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in a cross-functional and global team environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and solution skills
  • Demonstrated initiative to stay abreast of technology advancements
  • Experience functioning on high priority business imperative global projects
  • Ability to understand vital or safety critical designs
