At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
The Project Manager - Communications, Network & Technology, based in Melbourne, is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of rail communications, telecommunications, network infrastructure, and associated technology projects. The role is accountable for achieving safety, quality, cost, schedule, and client objectives while managing project scope, resources, risks, contracts, and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
You'll work with sharp, committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration of business and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of communications and network technology projects from initiation through to operational handover.
- Manage project scope, budget, programme, risks, opportunities, and change control processes.
- Coordinate engineering, construction, testing, commissioning, and operational stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Manage the delivery of communications, telecommunications, networking, fibre optic, CCTV, public address, passenger information, radio, and related technology systems.
- Oversee procurement activities and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring performance, safety, quality, programme, and commercial requirements are met.
- Administer contracts and monitor subcontractor deliverables, variations, claims, and compliance obligations.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, rail operators, alliance partners, regulators, and internal business functions.
Key Requirements
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years' experience delivering communications, telecommunications, network technology, systems integration, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls, contract management, commercial management, and rail safety requirements.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience delivering projects within regulated infrastructure environments, preferably rail, transport, utilities, or critical infrastructure.
Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
