Your future role
An opportunity has become available to join Alstom within our V/Line Maintenance project. The team within this project play a critical role in ensuring the V/Line regional train fleet is maintained and operating to the highest standard. Joining the team as the Head of Fleet Management, you will play a critical role in leading the operational teams across several different sites to optimize the V/Line fleet performance while ensuring that safety remains top priority. Reporting to the Project Director, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team and be responsible for driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement. You will primarily be based at our depot in West Melbourne, however you will be required to travel to South Dynan, Ballarat and Geelong, as required.
We’ll look to you for:
- Leading, coaching and managing a teams across multiple sites.
- The management of all depot operations and maintenance activities.
- Establishing and managing the Fleet Support Centre and 24/7 help desk.
- Managing the effective short-term and long-term maintenance planning for the fleet.
- Driving change and the continuous improvement of maintenance operations.
- Championing a ‘safety first’ culture across the operation.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships, engage and influence at all levels.
- The demonstrated ability to lead change in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
- A commercially minded approach to operational management.
- Significant experience managing a fleet maintenance operation in Rail, Aviation, Automotive, Mining or a similar industry.
- Tertiary qualifications are highly desirable.
