Could you be our next Site Welding Manager in Mátranovák?
This is a unique leadership opportunity to drive welding excellence at a strategically important manufacturing site undergoing significant modernization, including investments in robotic welding and laser-cutting technologies.
Reporting directly to the Site Managing Director, you will lead all welding activities and play a key role in ensuring our frame production meets the highest standards of quality, safety, delivery, and performance.
You'll inspire and develop a team of approximately 30 professionals, including Welding Engineers, Welding Monitors, and Welding Trainers within our Welding School. Working in a highly collaborative industrial environment, you'll partner with cross-functional teams while championing innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
As Site Welding Manager, you will:
- Lead and continuously improve welding processes, methodologies, and ways of working in line with Alstom industrial standards and project requirements.
- Oversee welding operations, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Define and drive the site's welding strategy to achieve ambitious objectives in Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Safety (QCDS).
- Develop, coach, and mentor your team, building technical expertise and ensuring capability aligns with site workload and future needs.
- Provide expert welding support to projects and manufacturing teams.
- Drive industrialization best practices, including EHS, ergonomics, work instructions, and method-time optimization.
- Manage and develop the Welding School, ensuring new welders are fully qualified and production-ready.
- Lead welding qualification testing, analyze results, and validate welding processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Build and maintain an external network of welding experts, industry forums, and professional organizations to stay at the forefront of welding technologies and trends.
What We're Looking For
We value passion, leadership, and potential as much as experience. To succeed in this role, you'll ideally bring:
✅ Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
✅ International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification
✅ Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy manufacturing, mechanical industry, or industrial production environments
✅ Strong knowledge of welding technologies and welding process management
✅ Experience in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or production environments
✅ Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, develop, and engage teams
✅ Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
✅ Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
✅ Fluency in English & Hungarian
✅ A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing people and driving continuous improvement
