Could you be the full-time Traction Software Development Engineer (f/m/d), based in Mannheim we’re looking for?

 

Your future role
In Mannheim, over 950 colleagues from 36 different countries work together to develop locomotives, as well as signal and propulsion technology for vehicles that are deployed both regionally and worldwide. Our product line Rolling Stock & Components offers products from the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. Our innovation focus is on green and smart solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen. You’ll report to Gerold Heres (Traction Control Site Metier Manager) and work alongside passionate, motivated and dedicated teammates.

As Traction Software Development Engineer you will participate to the complete software development cycle for Traction Converter and Traction Battery control solutions, by assuring the work of design and test of the software, following the standard EN50657 within the framework of national or international rail projects.Collaborating with the Control and Validation software engineers, you will design software, realize integration activities, generating embedded and simulation for traction applicative software, based on functional requirement specifications.

 

We’ll look to you for 

  • Design and implement software for traction converters and traction battery control solutions
  • Co-ordinate software design for Traction control solutions with Software and Control team for whole train and being the one who support/lead during technical review or for training with the final customer
  • Support Control Engineers for the functional requirement specification (FRS) writing
  • Write the software requirement specification according to the functional requirement specification
  • Support the verification and validation activities on test bench and support the commissioning on vehicle
  • Insure technical interfaces with subcontractors team and delivery acceptation on software development project, respecting Alstom processes and legislation rules
  • Responsible for the configuration management of the software project

  • Professional experience in the field of railway technology (or automotive) and/or Traction battery solutions
  • Experience of at least 3 years in embedded real time software design or as SW architect
  • Advanced knowledge with integrated SW development environment and SW programming languages (e.g. IEC 61131, C/C++)
  • Good knowledge in simulation tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink)
  • Good German & English language skills
  • Autonomous, analysis capability, team spirit and good communication skills
