Product Architect – Rail Automated Systems (m/f/d)


Location: Mannheim / Germany


Purpose of the job: The Product Architect ensures that we deliver and maintain technically excellent Onboard Embedded System solutions (Hardware & Software). You will be working alongside experienced engineers to shape solutions and customer features. Your passion for solution excellence, innovation as well as your experiences in embedded and real-time systems are therefore keys to be successful in this role. As a Product Architect in our team, you will contribute with the product roadmap, system design description and realization plan of our HW and SW product.


Key Responsibilities:


• Define and agree on the product development roadmap with stakeholders (Design Authority and the Product Program Manager).

• Ensure technical coordination within (Agile Scrum Team) program engineering team, safety team and quality team.

• Ensure respect of QCD commitments.

• Specify the product characteristics and ensure that the product delivers the performance levels expected as defined in the product roadmap and meet systems and platforms expectations.

• Perform system analysis, requirements management according to requirement life cycle.

• Organize and lead product design reviews.

• Develop design-to-cost approach in developments to decrease unit cost of solutions.

• Manage product requirements: ensure the traceability of the product requirements (from product level down to software and hardware level) and ensure that each product requirement has been addressed by safety and V&V through the whole development cycle.

• Manage product configuration, change management and deliveries: establish and maintain the configuration baselines, perform configuration reviews, lead the change control board with the product program manager.

• With the product program manager, provide QCD estimation on bids.




• Master degree in computer science or other equivalent education (e.g. Engineering).

• 5 years of electronic development (System, HW, SW, V&V, RAM) in similar products environments.

• Experience with the methodologies for analyzing and specifying systems including safe functions.

• Experience with specification and documentation of complex technical systems.

• Knowledge of functionality and architecture of railway systems, especially signaling systems e.g. ERTMS/ETCS, LZB, PZB, national systems.

• Knowledgeable on product lifecycle according to CENELEC standards (EN 50128/50129) or similar (EN 61508).

• Experience with real-time, distributed, safe and fault-tolerant systems.

• Solid experience in requirement management and tools e.g. DOORS.

• Experiences in working in agile projects and SCRUM teams.

• Special experience on Hercules ARM MCU from TI.
