The main purpose of the role is to lead the sales & tender process for dedicated opportunities in Germany (Light Rail/ Urban Transport Vehicles), identifying business opportunities and carrying out customer acquisition activities. The successful candidate develops business to win new customers and nurture the existing ones.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a solid customer relationship (working & management level) with a dedicated well known client’s group of Germany Cities;
  • Establish, maintain & develop technical knowledge of ALSTOM and competitor’s light rail/ urban transport products;
  • Develop the capture plan & winning strategy together with the bid team for opportunities within an expected annual three-digit million Euro market value;
  • Evaluate and analyze key trends impacting business in very close collaboration with respective product platforms, derive implications for current and potential strategies and develop those to gain market share;
  • Create and establish a foundation to provide management with a constant pulse on industry trends and issues important to the business;
  • Lead a cross-functional team, incl. marketing, sales and bid management in all aspects of project identification, development, selection, bidding, negotiating and closing;
  • Support of project core team during execution phase     

 

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge Education

  • University Technical Degree or a strong transportation business-related background
  • Mature Sales skills

 

Relevant experience required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales, project management or business development role, working preferably in the railway industry (ideally light rail/ urban transport), experience in project & commercial management is also highly welcome

 

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role

  • Strong evidence of customer relationship building skills, demonstrated understanding of current and future market challenges as well as competitor knowledge
  • Strong technical & commercial background
  • Excellent German language knowledge is mandatorily required
