The position of Technician Trainer is critical in maintaining the capability of Alstom to meet the demands of our customers, as well as ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.

 

Purpose of role

 

As part of Alstom’s Training & Department capability, the role is to develop and assess Technicians in a timely and cost-effective manner.  Working closely and in partnership with the Training Manager, and local Trainer/Assessors to identify appropriate training solutions, assess capability and manage the technician landscape in terms of G1 and G2 technician numbers / development.

 

What are my key responsibilities?

 

  • Management of Technician development
  • To provide regular and timely updates / feedback and KPI'S to the Training Manager, HR, and Depot Managers
  • Conduct Training Needs Analysis for Technician training and development
  • Carry out Detailed, Design and Development of training targeted at Technicians
  • Review and amend existing training material as required
  • Delivery of training packages to Technicians
  • Assess technicians against G1 and G2 standards
  • Ensure training and assessment processes are audit compliant
  • Stays informed as to relevant skill and qualification levels required by Technicians for effective performance and circulate requirements and relevant information to the organisation as appropriate
  • Assist in the maintenance and control of the training database / record keeping systems
  • Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment, and equality laws
  • Benchmark and share best practice with other ALSTOM businesses and external companies, keeping abreast of new thinking on learning tools and technologies
  • Develop self and maintain knowledge in relevant field at all times

Candidate Requirements

 

Essential Qualifications

 

  • Level 3 Engineering qualifications - Mechanical and Electrical (Level 3 if an experienced Rail Technician).  You will need to be dual skilled for this role
  • Current assessing qualification (Full training provided if required)
  • Excellent written and oral skills.

 

Desirable

 

  • Teaching Qualification
  • Experience in conducting in depth Training Needs Analysis, including the identification of Training Objectives, Enabling Objectives and Key Learning Points, including the production of a Training Task Inventory.
  • Experience in the Detailed Design, Development, Delivery, Assessment and Evaluation of high quality re-usable training packages.
  • Experience in the production of high-quality training documentation/ technical publications, aide memoires, training aids and student hand-outs.
  • Experience as a Rolling Stock Technician or equivalent in a similar industry.
