Your future role

 

 

To assist the Training and Competency Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that staff working on projects are trained and competent to carry out their tasks and responsibilities in line with current legislation and industry standards. To ensure that training and assessments are carried out with minimum disruption to production and that relevant documentation and systems are maintained and kept up to date.

 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Develop and deliver training courses e.g. technical, systems, software, plant and equipment 
  • Carry out competence assessments, certify competence and ensure records are maintained to an auditable standard 
  • Carry out risk assessments on appropriate work tasks at all depots as required 
  • Carry out in-process checks, training and competence assurance, and support internal and external compliance audits 
  • Input and maintain data in learning and competency management systems to support the needs of the depot and the team 
  • Support with internal verification process of competence assessment and standardisation 
  • Maintain skills, knowledge and competence in accordance with continuous professional development activities 
  • Travel between relevant depots to fulfil training and assessment responsibilities 
  • Integrate with technical depot staff across multiple projects to keep knowledge of software and systems current and valid 

 

The role is based around a flexible work pattern, mostly on dayshift, although nightshifts and out of hours working will be required. Trainer Assessors are based at one or two sites, but work as a team and are expected to attend any site within the UK, when required.

  • Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technical systems, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic etc.
  • A recognised Assessor qualification - desirable
  • A recognised Trainer qualification - desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages
  • Current driving licence

 

The role of Trainer Assessor is a pivotal position within Alstom and requires a capable individual who is confident in managing their own workload and communicating with all levels of employee, from shop floor to senior management. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and capable of working within a team and on their own, flexibility is a core requirement.
