Mission:

In the frame of deployment activities for Signalling Projects, system engineer is in charge of all System activities and is responsible of the QCD on System deliveries.

  • To analyze the input needs (external or internal) and requirements, and design the solution by re-using existing solutions, or by developing a new solution, or adapting an existing one.
  • To ensure proper integration of subsystems and external stakeholders, in order to provide fluidity in the implementation of the delivered System (project technical solution).
  • To formalize and maintain the system specifications (operational, functional, and constructional), application rules, and supporting processes descriptions and their associated verification, validation and assessments.
  • To contribute to the project deployment strategy, defining the baselining of the Project at system level.

 

Responsibilities:

As member of the project engineering team:

  • Apply process, methods and tools as referenced by the project plans
  • Apply the engineering process
  • Contribute to the system design and specification according to the deployment strategy established in the Project Engineering Management Plan
  • Lead system design activities:
    • Capture, analyze, clarify and correctly allocate of customer requirements.
    • Contribution to gap analysis between tender solution and customer requirements.
    • Define System and provide guidelines for Sub-Subsystems implementation rules in line with system requirements.
    • Manage properly changes and associated impacts. Ensure that the system technically fulfils the defined needs and enhancements (change requests) and that a proper system engineering approach is being followed.
    • Complete coverage of interfaces (internal and external).
    • Definition of HW and SW products system configuration.
    • Design for safety (when required) and RAM compliance.
    • Coordinate with subsystem technical leaders, RAM, safety, V&V project teams, and product development teams, to ensure specifications completeness and acceptance.
    • Organize, conduct, and/or participate to technical reviews (design reviews, document reviews) including consultation to end-users, experts, according to specific needs and domains competencies relevance
    • Participate to the material selection and procurement activities as required for the system delivery.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement (Return of Experience process, …).
    • Contribute to workload estimations for the deliverables of his scope.
    • Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
    • Management of product/subsystem suppliers. Requirement specification, Clause by Clause, and deliverables follow-up.
  • Specify system deliverables:
    • Produce the Customer Requirements Specification and the requirement capture file including the requirements allocation to the subsystems.
    • Formalize and maintain the system specification, system documents, including plans, specifications and other technical documents, according to applicable templates content.
    • Elaborate the System Design of the Project. Define the System Architecture for different scopes and technical solutions.
    • Release Interfaces Management Matrix, to define and manage the external and internal interfaces (between Sub-Systems, Sub-contractors, Products).
    • Define Functional Specification and Operation Context Description.
    • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the System Baselines, analyze and implement Change Requests.
    • Prepare and participate in Design Reviews.
    • Coordinate with project team members to implement design and work through design revisions
    • Ensures traceability through-out the formal documentation, up to the input needs (input specifications, change requests)
    • Ensures verifications (document reviews, peer reviews) of system specifications
    • Put work deliverables under configuration management

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Engineer profile is a must.
  • 5-10 years experienced previous in similar position
  • Previous experience working on cross-functional teams
  • Previous rail industry experience is mandatory, particularly in Mainline ADIF projects tender and execution.
  • Knowledge on Engineering tasks to be performed
  • System Engineering knowledge
  • High English level is a must 
  • Fluent in French is desirable
