Job Title:

EHS Site Technician








Purpose of the Job:

Provide support of Environmental, Health and Safety standards, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and developing ALSTOM requirements.




Support Site EHS manager for EHS topics:

  • Cooperate with the internal resources to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Ensure activities of contractors are managed with respect to EHS, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operational areas.
  • Advise other Site personnel on all aspects of EHS applicable to site activities.
  • May respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Provides and assists risks assessments by participating in processes and procedures and researching best practices and regulatory requirements of the Sites (Manufacturing, Depots, Projects and Services sites, Alstom facilities, …)
  • Monitoring the contractor’s compliance with legal and Alstom´s requirements.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of EHS Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Develops and assists in the development of technical documents including Emergency Plans, Health and Safety Project / Services Plans, Environmental Project / Services Plans, EHS procedures, EHS programs, guidance documents, etc.
  • Recognize the best practices and the good performance. React to violations to regulations and Alstom Standards.
  • Perform EHS audit of subcontractors.


Develop Site EHS Management System:

  • Supports the EHS Team in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, ISO14001 , ISO45001 and ISO 50001 program development, EHS Alstom requirements and Customer’s requirements.
  • Deploy Alstom EHS Standards and tools (Directives, Specific Requirements, etc.) Implements Alstom Zero Deviation Plan and other Alstom EHS campaigns.


EHS Compliance:

  • Assist the Site EHS Manager to ensure compliance of the site activities according to the EHS Plan, guidelines and work instructions.
  • Perform EHS legal compliance checks.
  • Ensure the Coordination of Business Activities in site.
  • Liaise with the customers and contractors on EHS matters.
  • Liaise with the regulatory EHS Authorities and external services.


 Develop EHS culture in the site:

  • Inform, instruct and train employees to carry out the work in safe & environment-friendly mode according to the method of statement.
  • Participate in the implementation of the site EHS training programs by providing EHS inductions and ensuring Tool Box meetings are organized. Introduce the EHS induction program for new employees.
  • Promote a positive culture of active participation, at all levels of the business, for matters relating to EHS to ensure compliance with requirements. Create EHS awareness and ensure its correct deployment & application.


Report, Measure & Review:

  • Support the preparation of monthly EHS reports. Can be in charge of feeding EHS Teranga reporting system in line with Group reporting requirements and under control by Site EHS manager.
  • Carry out inspections of work areas and carry out EHS audits and report any discrepancy.
  • Maintains EHS files and records. Records data and compiles it into statistical analyses and reports. Maintains various reporting systems and provides safety analysis as required.
  • Ensure that any near misses/accidents/incidents are first prevented, controlled and when occurring reported, recorded, investigated an analysed. Establish and communicate incidents reports including EHS alerts. Support for event analysis in EHS Connect.
  • Alert the Project / Service Manager of EHS situations and non-compliances.
  • Prepare and submit monthly EHS reports.
  • Participates in EHS site audits, inspections and routine surveys including the developing of audit documentation, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends in results of audit activities. Conducts investigations and root cause analysis. Implements corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities.


Educational Requirements:


  • Degree in Engineering or Degree in Environmental Science.
  • University MS in Prevention of Occupational Risks (Safety Specialist – Industrial Hygienist – Ergonomics Specialist)
  • English fluent level (advanced).
  • Knowledge of local legal EHS regulations.
  • Knowledge of Alstom EHS standards.
  • ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 /ISO 50001 Internal Auditor is a PLUS.


Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum 5 years work-experience.
  • Minimum 1 year work-experience in railway environment (railway projects, …)
  • Highly recommended experience for manufacturing sites or trains maintenance depots.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ISO14001, ISO45001.
  • Deep knowledge of local legal EHS requirements
  • Knowledge of the EHS requirements of our regular customers (desirable)
