Purpose of the Job

Make and authorize decisions on the design of a SW Product and/or the changes to the SW Product at a given phase of the entire Product life cycle.

Possess the requisite competencies to analyze and update the approved technical file and associated data.

Ensure that the consequences of any design decision are understood. The Design Authority maintains a consistent, coherent and complete perspective of the product design, defining the solution critical interfaces, such that business operations can be changed and benefits secured in a coordinated manner across the organization.



  • Ensure the technical integrity of the SW product and associated procedures being the owner of the change control process of it: Customer requirements management, SW technology surveillance, Change Request, Cybersecurity requirements, Obsolescence management, etc.
  • Authorize the changes to the design of the product, keeping the control and maintenance of the documentation of the SW product (Cost evaluation, designs, Specifications, Change Request, …)
  • Design business and technical solutions, Management and supervision of the SW product in the business and product activities
  • Manage the underlying architecture or infrastructure: SW technology surveillance, IT framework (active-active high availability clustering, Service Bus, microservices, on premises, virtualization, migration to cloud, etc). Trading between local expeditious solutions and investment in more enduring capabilities
  • Monitor risks associated with the product
  • Ensure that designs comply with the policies, standards and organizational constraints and are consistent with maturity target (Maturity Level: CMMI L3/L4) the supporting services and infrastructures that they use or with which they interface
  • Take a pro-active role and achieve any necessary design changes to minimize cost and impact when a design change is not perceived at the project management level
  • Prioritize and set up projects to deliver impacts contributing to business outcomes
  • Identify and manage key interfaces between constituent projects and own program and other concurrent programs, recognizing common or conflicting elements in different parts of other programs


Core Technical Skills

  • 3-5 years of experienced in a similar position
  • Experienced designing solutions for supervision, management and control of railway applications transport systems
  • Technical experience of process engineering and SW development and associated methodology program development procedures: .Net, WPF Microsoft, WWF Microsoft, microservices, BCI 60005, IEC62443, Agile methodology, etc
  • Able to design a complex product that integrates multiple unconnected security applications and devices and control them through one comprehensive user interface & protocols: CCTV (ONVIF), Video streaming, Audio (SIP), Publica address (Dante), Displays (HTML), Data Management, EBS (i.e: Rabbit MQ), OPC UA,  etc
  • Experienced to work in all the stages of the development process, from the design and requirement definition to the validation and maintenance.
  • Wide knowledge of trackside and onboard railway systems, protocols and communications
  • Project/product management background level required
  • High level of English is a must (daily working language).
  • Working understanding of French is a plus.
  • Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer) in an international environment
  • Proactive, team player, process and result oriented.
  • Clear reporting, leadership, initiative and innovation minded
  • Knowledge of Doors® is a plus
  • Must have strong motivational skills and must be able to establish positive relationship with customer, contractors and other Alstom departments to ensure maximum success for the project.


Domain Knowledge

  • Knowledge of physical Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intruders Detection, Telephony, Intercom, etc) and PACIS systems: Public Address, Passenger information Displays, etc)
  • Knowledge of hardware protocols and interfaces.
  • Knowledge of global standards
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity design
  • Knowledge of intelligent transportation
