Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Approximately 3-9 employees of varying crafts and
  • Three Stadler Flirt DMUs.
  • Perform regular efficiency (safety) testing of employees in the work group and regularly identify and correct off-standard or at-risk conditions with employees.
  • Lead a safe work group by promoting and enforcing Alstom best safety practices including quality execution of job briefings, risk assessments, risk mitigation, employee engagement and empowerment, and root cause analysis problem solving.
  • Review workloads and assign appropriate staff to complete the repairs, maintenance inspections as well as special projects in a timely fashion.
  • Plan work schedules and assignments to ensure that equipment is being maintained within the maintenance guidelines.  No equipment is to be run past required federal inspection intervals.
  • Monitor equipment performance and condition of repairs by auditing staff and completed tasks.
  • Ensure appropriate material is on site and staged prior to assignments to expedite repairs.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workplace with the support of employees.  Propose and implement recommendations to improve safety and efficiency of the work group through employee engagement.
  • Monitor work order completion using Trapeze or other Electronic Asset Management (EAM) systems.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate employee timekeeping using Kronos.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Conduct regular workplace and outpost audits to ensure compliance with all safety policies and programs and legal requirements.
  • Conduct accident/injury investigations related to Worker's Compensation. Communicate with HR about follow-ups with injured workers.
  • Train your employees on best practices and standards. Identify your department's training needs and coordinate with appropriate trainers to obtain the needed safety, compliance, and technical training.
  • Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Escalate obstacles that you or your work group cannot resolve to the appropriate resolution level.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

    1. Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

Experience:

  • +5 years of railway industry experience
  • +2 years of Locomotive maintenance and repair experience

 

Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Work prolonged periods on your feet in the shop environment or outdoors.
  • Occasional periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.

 

Salary Range:

$76,160 - $87,000 annually
