Your future role

"Take on a new challenge and apply your comprehensive locomotive operations and supervisory expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated, knowledgeable, and dynamic teammates. You'll provide crucial leadership and ensure the safe, crews are operating in compliance with FRA regulations and as per collective bargaining agreements while ensuring we deliver on-time performance. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project & Bid Management, Safety, Training, Compliance, and Operations), mentor and oversee our Crew Dispatchers. 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Provide Mentoring and Support to all Crew Dispatchers/Crew Coordinators, providing the tools and support needed to ensure procedural compliance, as well as providing Supervision and feedback to all Crew Members, ensuring all are operating safely and in compliance with all Alstom Policies and Procedures, as well as FRA regulations.
  • Ensures all assignments are filled and called properly, in a timely fashion, compliant with regulations.   All calls made must be in accordance with current collective agreements, and calling/canvassing procedures.
  • Ensures that crew schedules and Job Descriptions are compliant with current collective agreements and FRA Regulations..
  • The position acts as an Administrator in HOS system, ensuring the system is maintained, up to date and accurate.  This position must be able to troubleshoot issues found, and work closely with our partners should issues need to be escalated.
  • The Crew Supervisor is responsible for updating HOS system, with employee information including, but not limited to address changes, status changes, vacation entitlement, Job swaps, pay rates and classifications, qualifications and discipline, and any updates received from our Human Resources Department.
  • Closely monitor HOS system and Dispatcher Logs for any known violations of Rules, procedures, (AWOL, insubordination, sleeping in, etc...) and Hours of Service compliance.
  • This position is responsible for updating all Job Descriptions in HOS system, creating Holiday and Special schedules, generating Statutory Holidays, and updating the “G” drive with the most up to date information.
  • The Crew Supervisor coordinates all General Ads, including adjusting TOD’s in HOS system, putting all appropriate documents out for crews, and working closely with the Union when going though bids and awarding positions.
  • Ensures all requests for extra service by our Customer are canvassed, filled, and all pertinent documents and information are provided to our crew members.
  • Ensures all vacation/floater/day off requests are taken care of, and do not exceed daily availability or entitlement maximums.
  • Is responsible for verifying payroll claims, ensuring all crew members are paid in accordance with their TOD, with all applicable premiums, payroll concerns, and all crew pay periods are complete without discrepancies or overlapping times.
  • Ensures that all necessary documents such as Track Allotments and Equipment Lineups are posted and available to employees in a timely manner
  • Liaise with Human Resources in regards to employee Management (short term, RTW, etc..)
  • Work Closely with Union Representatives in regards to the OBS (On-line Bidding System) in regards to General Ads, TV’s and PV’s

  • Degree in Transportation, Business or related field or equivalent work experience.,

  • Previous Crew Management/Scheduling Experience preferred

  • Experience or understanding of supervisory roles within an FRA regulated railroad environment.,

  • Knowledge of FRA Regulations on Operating rules GCOR, Timetable and Special Instructions.,

  • Familiarity with the physical layout and operation of the Authority’s rail system.,

  • Must have people skills and management skills to ensure professional interaction with the Operations team.

Pay Range:

 

$85,000.00 to $120,000.00 depending on experience/qualifications.

This position is eligible for Railroad Retirement.
