Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your Wheel Lathe Train Maintainance expertise in a new cutting edge field. Reporting into the Senior Production Manager, as part of Urban sector, Northern Line Trains Operations department, the responsibility of this post is to maintain the Line’s tube stock to standards of Quality, Cost and Delivery that meet the Customer expectations as a minimum. You’ll carry out maintenance work, both planned and corrective, on a 24-hour rotating shift basis.
We'll look to you to:
- To maintain the Rolling Stock, including preparation works, maintenance repairs, overhaul works, shunting, exam works, wheel lathe activities, call point duties and yard cabin duties
- The task above must be carried out in accordance with specified Company, Quality, and Health & Safety procedures. This may require manual work and sometimes working on powered up trains.
- To attend regular team briefings and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to work
- To continuously improve process and procedures
- To coach and develop other Train Maintainers when required
- To report accidents/incidents through the appropriate channels
- To read reports/manuals, and fully participate in training programs
- Use line side equipment in accordance with relevant processes.
- Use handheld devices as instructed to assist in tasks.
- Work off-site to undertake maintenance or attend failed trains.
- Drive company vehicles if licenced to do so

- Time served apprentice within the mechanical maintenance field or similar qualification (G&C/ ONC/HNC/BTEC)
- Experience of electronics, pneumatics, and mechanics
- Experience working within a Rolling Stock Maintenance environment preferable
- History of work in a process/production environment
- Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems preferable
- Understanding of IT and handheld equipment
- Conscientious Team player
- Establishes structures, sets objectives, involves others, and ensures that work is carried out to time and quality
- Technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical works
- Flexibility and Adaptability. Consistently seeks new challenges. Has the ability to see alternative ways of achieving organisational goals
- Able to work without supervision and communicate confidently
