We are looking for a Senior Shift Production Manager in Willesden and Ilford (London), United Kingdom.

Purpose of the Job
The Senior Shift Production Manager drives the production team to meet its daily operational standards and targets (including health and safety, product safety, availability, reliability, train presentation and customer ambience, 5S and efficiency).

Leading and developing a positive culture and working environment that drives attitudes and behaviours to support and continuously develop the overall project strategy for improvements to Safety, Quality Cost and Delivery

Leading, mentoring and developing his/her project team to ensure the key deliverable as defined by the organisation are optimised for the benefit of the shareholders and the services value chain.

He/she is responsible for managing the Shift Production Managers (direct line management) and developing all production leadership roles (Team Leaders) to establish a culture where ownership to deliver targets and implement continuous improvements are the foundations of a successful production team.

She/he will be leading production efficiency, managing the link with the engineering team to ensure that our planned and repetitive corrective maintenance activities have achievable and challenging standard times that get consistently delivered by all teams.


Health and Safety 
•    To ensure that all teams have the skills to manage key health and safety processes (including risk assessments, COSHH assessments, accident investigations), drive the implementation of Health and safety initiatives across the teams, manage the performance of the production team against the standards defined in the Alstom Zero Deviation Policy.
•    Responsible for the health and safety of the Production activities ensuring all risks are controlled to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
•    The risks to be controlled include workplace risks, plant & equipment use, noise, pressure equipment, slips & trips, working at height, workplace transport, workers risks, harmful substances, manual handling, personal protective equipment, vibration and confined spaces. Other risks to control include control of contractors and change management
•    Responsible for the safety and security of the site on a 24-hour basis
•    Provide adequate information, instruction, coaching and supervision to ensure the Health and Safety of staff and visitors
People Management 
•    Day to day management of the production teams to ensure that the required resource levels (and skills) are available on shift to deliver the production plan. Line management of the Shift Managers (including absences, holidays, appraisals). Development of all the leadership roles within production to ensur
•    e that all individuals in these roles have clear roles and responsibilities and have development plans to improve their skills. 
•    Management of the teams skills and training plans. To communicate the Alstom strategy, core values, behaviours, vision and objectives, ensuring they are understood and maintained within the Team.
•    Set demanding and realistic production goals through sustained effort to exceed performance targets. 
•    Self-driven to drive the Production function to deliver the Maintenance Services to deliver on time and to cost.
•    Provide strong team leadership through supporting the team, maintain effective working relationships, provide constructive feedback to team members and keep all staff informed through briefs, toolbox talks and appraisals.
•    Coaching staff in the required Culture and Behaviours. Motivating staff and maintaining high levels of morale within the team.
•    Undertaking and promoting robust and effective 2-way communication with the team and the business

Operational Excellence 
•    To continuously aim for the improvement of the productivity/efficiency of the maintenance process through the installation and management of appropriate tools and processes to assess and improve/ the performance of production team.
•    Coaching staff in good working practices and quality standards (including 5S).
•    Responsible to the Depot Manager for ensuring that all vehicles meet agreed standards of maintenance and cleanliness prior to returning to service (including the management of IPC, PPC, Production Focus Board).

Contract Delivery 
•    Manage the people and processes to ensure compliance to all contractual obligations in terms of availability and reliability. 
•    Including any other customer requirements (audit schedules, compliance to the VMS, and delivery of any variation orders). 
•    Working in close relationship with the Depot Operations Manager, Project Manager, Project Commercial Manager and customer.
Cost Improvement

•    Support the Depot Operations Manager the cost structure on a day to day basis for the fleet contract life. 
•    Work with wider project team to seek out improvements in efficiency and opportunities to increase project revenue and reduce cost expenditure.

•    Management degree and or experience (ILM Level 3 or equivalent would also be an advantage).
•    Strong project management and communications skills,
•    Good understanding of mechanical and electrical principles,
•    Computer literate.
•    Good understanding of English language (written and verbal)
•    People Engagement & Management   
•    Relevant experience and track record (in a similar environment, i.e.: 24 hours, 7 days a week service industry).
•    Experience of managing a team and accountable for all people management activities including absence management, appraisals, discipline and grievances. 
•    Experience of leading, coaching and & motivating a team to achieve individual & departmental development
•    Experience of train maintenance (hands one, supervision/management) is beneficial.
•    Experience of working in a pressured and fast-paced environment 
•    Experienced in using problem solving, Continuous Improvement techniques from investigation to resolution
