Your future role

 

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering and technical writing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll join a diverse team based across the UK&I, working alongside many different disciplines and functions.

 

You’ll be based at our Old Oak Common depot in West London which is home to Transport for London’s state-of-the art Aventra fleet, the UK’s leading train.  The Class 345 Aventra trains are maintained around-the-clock at the depot, with award winning technologies and passionate and dedicated teams, it is a great time to join Alstom in this role.

 

The role is primarily concerned with the efficient and effective planning and delivery of level preventative maintenance development and overhaul optimisation activities from concept to close-out.

 

You’ll be responsible for initiating, progressing, and closing out all assigned maintenance development and overhaul optimisation initiatives for all UK fleets ensuring that cost savings are delivered whilst maintaining safety, availability and reliability.

  

What are my key responsibilities?

 

  • You’ll specifically take care of the creation, management and delivery of maintenance development and overhaul optimisation strategies for all UK fleets with a specific focus on the Aventra Platform
  • Generation of key documentation to support work packages such as scope document, risk assessments, Failure Mode, Effect, Analysis (FMEA) documentation, engineering change documentation etc
  • Application of engineering knowledge and principles
  • Carry out condition assessments of components where required
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as Projects, Design Authority, Central Engineering, etc
  • Apply Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) methodologies as required.
  • Attend, where necessary, Supplier and Customer meetings related to work packages
  • Follow all applicable processes and procedures
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the legislative requirements for Engineering Change and the standards and guidance documents related to Railway Safety
  • Liaise with the Professional Head of Engineering’s Team in issues relating to Engineering Change and Railway Safety

  • Minimum BEng in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience is essential
  • Experience in medium/heavy engineering environment
  • Experience within maintenance development, preferably railway or a comparable industry
  • Ability to write technical documentation in a good standard of English is essential
  • The ability to work autonomously and be motivated and focused as you will be working independently for a large portion of time
  • Strong & confident communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient use of MS Office
  • Project management experience at initial development level is desirable
  • Analytical problem solving
