Maintenance and Technical Support Engineer

Appointment Basis: Fixed Term Contract - 24 months

Salary: c.£65K + Benefits (depending on experience)

Could you be the full-time Maintenance and Technical Support Engineer to work on a fixed term contract spanning 2 years to based in London at either our Golders Green or Morden Depots, serving London Underground's Northern Line?

 

 

Your future role

 

Take on a new challenge in London and apply your Maintenance and Technical Support Engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Lead Engineer and work alongside a dedicated and passionate production team in Alstom UK&I. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll provide product knowledge and support to operations and the customer on rolling stock systems. You will have personal responsibility for the performance of a number of systems in order to maintain and improve the safety, reliability and availability of the rolling stock and trackside equipment and to optimise maintenance costs.

 

We’ll look to you to:

  • Supply engineering resource/skills to support tenders and projects.
  • Collaborates with Services Engineering and Platforms,  to improve the Services portfolio of products and services.
  • Participates actively in the Services Engineering network.
  • Assures the technical support to the projects.
  • Optimises the scope and related tasks of the Maintenance plan.
  • Supports cost reduction actions, with sourcing and industrial.
  • Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve the reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems.
  • Proposes innovative solutions and develops and implements R&D programs and new technologies in the maintenance projects.
  • Analyses the technical performances of the systems and the efficiency of the maintenance plan and processes, promoting action plans to improve them.
  • Propose actions to optimise Maintenance plans and LCC.
  • Searches for improvement actions in maintenance operations, performing engineering interface activities with Operations Engineers (depot support).
  • Promotes the use of latest maintenance technics and R&D developments (CBM, RCM, Lean).
  • Participates in the REX process.
  • Analyses failure criticality studies and uses RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and other available methodologies to define and optimise the maintenance requirements, tasks and intervals.
  • Analyses and integrates data coming from Operations (Return on Experience).
  • Manages interface with other Product Lines’ Metiers.
  • Improve Services Engineering tools & processes

  • Ideally educated to Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering discipline
  • Chartered status or actively working toward chartered status (advantageous)
  • Strong engineering/technical knowledge of rolling stock systems and maintenance policies/practices
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or asset management environment
  • Experience in delivering rail vehicle engineering change, including risk assessments and approvals
  • Knowledge of rail industry legislation and safety case obligations
